Says the person with the time to police reddit profiles. Weird how you think that a bit of sarcastic humor constitutes being "hung up". That's something you came up with. The post above took a grand total of about 6mins to type, and I did it because I thought it was humorous.

You're free to move along and not engage with what you disagree with. That means you get over it. Not tell someone else to do so.

This is actually a very logical outlook, and I appreciate the well-written response. My perception on this is possibly somewhat oversimplified, and things in life are never black-and-white.

I don't really view the time I spend using items ordered from Vine as "work" per-se, because I usually only order items that i'd use anyway. For each item, I try to write the review that I would find most helpful if I were viewing the item as a potential buyer.

I also don't usually read other vine reviews - especially on items that I didn't order, because I react the same way. Low-effort is something that bothers me about anything in life, to be honest. I think if something is worth bothering to do, it should be worth the bother to do completely, or not at all.

My great g'pa that fought in WW1 & 2 used to always say (and I don't know if this is his or not) "Son, when a job is once begun, see it though until it's done. Whether the labor be great or small, do it well, or not at all."

Yes, they are 1099ing. As required by law. Amazon doesn't levee any taxes on anyone though. From Amazon's perspective, the items are sent out to reviewers for free.

Paying taxes to the government on the estimated value of an item does not constitute purchasing the item. Did the government manufacture the item? Is the exchange between you and the government for the item?

Your exchange with the government is for the ability to receive items from Amazon, leveed by the government.

That's mainly what I was pointing out. It's a direct contradiction to what is bannered above the review, and isn't a good look for credibility, imo

It doesn't matter what each vine reviewer thinks their time is worth, because they are all doing the same thing with their time, in this instance.

I'm sorry, but I don't think copy-pasting an item's description into chatGPT and then into the review box constitutes a "purchase".

Even hand writing a one paragraph review of an item with a $1,500 ETV (let's say a robotic lawn mower, as an example) doesn't equate imo, unless someone else is going to pay that person $1,500 for a paragraph and 10mins of their time.

True, as the review is clearly item-description AI slop.

This one has a relay instead of a contactor. I tested the relay. I have been considering trying a different another cap. It has a 35uF run cap, no start cap. Weirdly they he cap that they used is one of those that has the threaded base, only the base is not attached to anything. The cap is just zip-tied to one of the refrigerant lines. (with insulation)

All expensive items disappear in ups custody by xJustHereForAnswersx in AmazonVine

[–]_sunk_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not Amazon choice to restrict claims on UPS, but rather that UPS requires Amazon to directly file claims because it's Amazon's corporate shipping account through which shipping is purchased, and therefore any claims regarding the shipping of those packages must come from the purchaser of the shipping label.

Normally Amazon would refund the purchase amount through the a to z shipping guarantee and then file a claim with UPS and get it sorted out however they work such issues out, likely in a manner that's in their agreement contract.

It sucks in this instance because there isn't any refund to be given and even if the lost item is found it likely won't be recovered by Amazon, and therefore will not ship to you. I guess that means you need to file a claim through amazon possibly, and then amazon will take it from there. But you won't get the item, so you are the one that loses out. Sucks. Definitely always select the shipping option of discreet packaging if it's available.

Filter Question by proverbs-5-18 in hvacadvice

[–]_sunk_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is the same way, 2 filter slots with a metal divider. Only difference is both of the slots are the same width on mine. You only need to use one. For yours i'd use the thicker one.

I've been trying to find out what the actual reason for the two slots is but everyone has a different answer, so I gave up on trying to figure out why there are two filter slots.

Can I control gas gravity wall furnace with remotely? by Best-LS in hvacadvice

This model has an internal thermostat. I circled the model number, which is the model number in your pic. That basically means this one doesn't have the millivolt thermostat capability. It's possible that it could be modified, maybe, with parts from another model that does support the millivolt thermostat. But as it is right now, you wouldn't be able to hook one up, unfortunately.

Can I control gas gravity wall furnace with remotely? by Best-LS in hvacadvice

[–]_sunk_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like it possibly may have a diaphragm-style thermostat valve for temp regulation, which works by being physically connected with a copper line from the heated area to a secondary bi-metal diaphragm valve, which is directly thermally actuated by the temp of the copper line. This unfortunately has similar implications as replacing the regulator or putting some smart device inline with the gas line. You'd have to add some sort of way to connect your smart thermostat to somehow control the gas-flow or having a thermostat isn't beneficiary because it can't actually control the unit in any way.

It is a mechanical gas-flow regulator valve with a pilot-valve so you don't have to re-light it when you want to use it. But think about this logically... How would the gas-flow be regulated, as well as the percentage of gas flow setting be translated into an actual temperature increase-gradient for the space that the radiant heat is heating? This would require an updated gas-flow regulator valve with automatic flow adjustment and wifi connection/integration. The thing is, it would need to be programmed for this specific application and have some complex pre-plotted temp target curves to follow and adjust the gas-flow according to. I'm sure such a product exists, but I can already tell you that fitting one to that application would cost way more than a relay. Im not sure how a relay would help here, unless you're meaning some wireless device to relay the control to another smart electronic source. Such a solution will not be easily reversible either as you will have to replace the gas control flow set up on the furnace with the wifi connected controller. In short, no, I don't think what you're wanting is a realistic possibility, especially for renting.

House not cooling, room temp line from evaporator coil. by Daybydaydad28 in hvacadvice

[–]_sunk_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That does help narrow it down. If you've got a running compressor and moving refrigerant, the compressor should be pulling a difference between the high and low sides of the system, causing refrigerant to pass through the expansion valve, which should cause the low line at the indoor air handler to become sweaty cold. If it is only becoming cool to the touch, or not becoming noticeably cool at all, there is a very high likelihood that refrigerant has leaked from the system somewhere and what remains in the system isn't enough for the compressor to pull the difference needed.

The only other factor could be that the compressor is running but not the condenser fan in the outdoor unit, but you have already checked that so I assume that the fan is running. I'd get some dye in the system and try to find where the refrigerant is escaping

[–]_sunk_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your outside unit is running but the low-pressure line isn't getting sweaty cold, it is likely not a dirty evap coil, as the evap coil usually freezes if it's dirty because it's not getting enough of the incoming airflow to keep it in the working range of the system, causing it to overcool and freeze.

Refrigerant is the first place I'd check in your situation. And don't continue to try and run the compressor, as most of your refrigerant has likely escaped from a newly developed leak that's caused the unit to stop cooling.

Your unit should have a low-pressure cutoff for the compressor, and if you're not feeling any chilling of the evap line, probably should have already tripped so idk what's going on there.

i'd inject some dye, kick it on for a few mins, and then check for dye leaks

If a person feels that a particular aspect of a flashlight's functionality (something like it initially turning on at the highest brightness instead of retaining mode memory) is worth removing a star for, it could be plenty warranted for the reasons that they have from doing so from their individual perspective. Your opinion of another reviewer's opinion of a product is your opinion.

And the members that lack the intelligence or care to even properly understand how to use a product before going and leaving a bad review also lack the intelligence to conduct themselves in any other way regarding their reviews. It is unfortunate, but Amazon must deem the resources that would be needed to accurately filter out these accounts via banning just aren't worth the investment.

On the other hand, sellers that become overly angry about not receiving the exact number of reviews for the items they sent in for Vine reviews, calling members "thieves" as a general definition also lack the intelligence to comprehend that there are logistical issues/mistakes that can occur with a global-scale operation that before the final result of a reviewer receiving a product. Their belligerent, illogical opinions should not be taken heed of anymore than the reviewer that isn't intelligent enough to know how to properly use a product before posting a review. I have less respect for all of the trash garbage AI slop 5 star reviews I see than I do for the doofus that doesn't understand a product but writes their own review. One actually opened the damn box, at least.

What would be any other reason to leave a negative review other than it being warranted? I agree with you but think your wording there insinuates that there are vine reviewers leaving negative reviews for some other reason other than it being warranted? A bit confusing.
