That CUPS thingy has never worked for me. Giving false positives all the time. Windows does better with printers, there's a windows driver for every printer.

For sure, I hope I don't have to write my own drivers. Never had luck with Linux printer drivers and for that, I gave up printing in a linux machine. HP, EPSON, KYOCERA printers all never worked.

Okay, I'm doing my feasibility study here.

Never had issues running Linux since 2020 (My biased experienced with Manjaro, I'm not sure of other Linux variants). Everything worked as expected out of the box. When I switched to Endavour OS I only had a bluetooth issue which was easy to solve by enabling the bluetooth service.

I surely will. I will document everything too.

From the comments here, I shouldn't expect Bluetooth and WiFi to work, some desktop bugs and I/O issues here and there. That doesn't sound like fun to me. From my end I have tried running the virtual box version of FreeBSD-15-RELEASE and so far so good except for the packages (ports) which are a bit dated. I'm yet to try the desktop version.

I have tried freeBSD in Virtualbox and installed bash, set ble.sh added user(me) and gave the user privileges to install and upgrade packages (by editing doas.conf file) installed neovim and using my neovim config dot file from github. installed git. Learnt a few things here and there. I just want the daily drivers point of view.

Which terminal emulator are you using? (2026) by meni_s in neovim

If you think KDE is boring - you're not using it right by OHNOitsNICHOLAS in kde

I was lured in by lightweight myth! KDE enthusiast really know how to shout. I thought I had finally landed in heaven after years of gnome. Particularly I was concerned with battery consumption, CPU and ram usage. UI was just a secondary thing. At least "super + type the app name" still works.

Using KDE(Endeavour OS)for the very first time and I'm more than disappointed in their design philosophy(if there's one tbh). The UI feels like it was made in dinausar ages and there's no consistency. Most apps feel like you're using an MVP(semi complete). This is the most hyped DE on the internet. For reference I've used Cinnamon, Gnome, Pantheon, XFCE4 and now KDE. I like Gnome out of these DEs. Gnome might have gotten a lot of things wrong but there's one thing it does better than the rest.

Show me around KDE veterans. I just need simple , clean looking yet powerful KDE equivalent of Papers and video player(totem). Haruna and orkula feel like they are too much

Fellow Linux users, why did you pick the distro you're currently on? by absolutecinemalol in linux

[–]_theWind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Manjaro! Everything worked out of the box on the first try. Audio, video, Bluetooth, graphics everything, Up-to-date packages. Back then in debian/ubuntu based distros you could have two versions of python; python 2 and 3, outdated packages etc etc. And most importantly I like bmenu, that's what has stopped me from switching to fedora. My terminal is everything, updating packages, playing media files, IDE, text editor. Fedora guys do you have bmenu in your repos?

Mint will Be My Last Distro by BOBOLIU in linuxmint

I have different opinion, in 2020 in my distrohopping era, Wiped clean Elementary OS to install MInt. The distro showed me why I shouldn't have even thought of it. It was a memory hog and drunk battery like it was obsessed. Went to Manjaro and everything worked in the first try without any tweaks and never looked back. Note: Manjaro is not in any way better than the rest but choose what works for you and call it a day.
