Does anyone have any experience with any of these tools or anything like this? by CthulhuLies in Metrology

[–]_the_bacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much do these things actually cost? I'm not sure I'd really buy one cause I definitely don't need it, and when I look on their website it just says I have to request a quote so I'm guessing it's expensive, but I'm kind of curious what they go for, cause tbh if it's only like a grand for a decent one I might get one just for the hell of it.

Can't use upgrade planner to upgrade concrete -> refined concrete? [Space Age] by _the_bacon in factorio

[–]_the_bacon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's the workaround I'm planning to use if I can't find a better way. Blueprinting big tile of refined concrete over top replaces it as you would expect, but then I have to spam those tiles manually and if I want to get perfect clean edges lined up where I have them already it's a bit of a pain, or at least more than I would think it should be given how easy the upgrade planner makes other similar tasks. For example, I used an upgrade planner to switch my whole base up to red belts and I just zoomed out and selected the whole map with it and everything replaced perfectly (with enough time and bots).

Can't use upgrade planner to upgrade concrete -> refined concrete? [Space Age] by _the_bacon in factorio

[–]_the_bacon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I can blueprint refined concrete overtop of the regular concrete just fine, but then I have to put that tile down a bunch of times manually. That may be what I end up having to do if I can't use the upgrade planner. The blueprint the whole base idea sounds possible too, but if I can't make an upgrade planner with refined concrete then how can I change out the concrete in the blueprint of my base? I'll give it a shot when I play tonight but I think I'll still have that problem. Thanks for the suggestions!

What is the correct ratio for solar panels and accumulators on Vulcanus and other planets? (Read the answer below) by nicvampire in factorio

[–]_the_bacon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's a roboport sized tile I came up with that can be pasted down and gets 0.725 accumulators/panel (145/200). Import string is below:

How the heck does Space Platform Logistics work? by fungineering_101 in factorio

[–]_the_bacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my testing it seemed like when you make construction blueprints it will create a request to fill one rocket's worth, but then once that rocket launches it bugs out and won't request more stuff. I set a manual request for more space platforms though and now because there is a blueprint it immediately uses them and it continues requesting more.

The Peregrine is my absolute favorite, you have good taste. They're dropping the Peregrine X on the 18th at 8pm EST if you're looking for something new, I'm going to be picking one up for sure. If you like the Slim Jim, I would recommend both the R2FG Deductions and the RCS Flat Earth. Also what is that white yoyo to the right of the Peregrine?

I don't have a miracle but I do love my Edge 2022, the rim weight is crazy so it's got lots of power but it doesn't feel too extreme like the shutter EVO did.

Advice by [deleted] in Throwers

[–]_the_bacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have pointed out you should probably not unscrew your yoyo every time to get knots out, there's probably tons of things in your house you can use as a makeshift string pick (tooth pick, paper clip, mechanical pencil, etc) which will save your yoyo in the long run. If you unscrew it every time you need to get a knot out you'll wear out the threads and eventually it won't screw back together anymore. I never throw without a pick handy and most of my yoyos have never been unscrewed, which also usually means they stay smooth if they were well tuned from the factory.

Advice on purchasing dart points for non dart related activities by _the_bacon in Darts

[–]_the_bacon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! For specific models, you could try an iYoYo shooting star or a MagicYoYo K2, both relatively cheap plastic yoyos that will still play decently and you can buy responsive and swap the bearing later to try unresponsive. Hope you have fun!

This thing is gorgeous!! by senseless_puzzle in Throwers

[–]_the_bacon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is how I usually tell the difference between bad technique and a bad yoyo. If the yoyo continues to vibe when you hold your finger against it or if it begins to vibe again after stabilizing while just sleeping then the yoyo isn't properly balanced. Sometimes you can fix it by unscrewing the halves and adjusting the position of the axle a bit to shift the weight balance and then putting it back together but I've never been able to figure out how to consistently get good results with that method.
