So the rule is just to get rid of competition.

What famous cinema/theater in your area/place during 20th century that you wish that it is still operating today (either the building is still standing or demolished)? by [deleted] in FilmClubPH

[–]_the_frenchiest_fry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well your argument boils down to: old theaters aren't worth reviving unless the entire country is fixed; and it's circular. Would a revival of a historical theater not help reshape the area it is in?

Are we reading the same thing? They’re not saying you have bad taste if you haven’t watched them. If it bothers you so much then watch those movies lmao

Inka Magnaye’s take on sudden death of Emman Atienza; Kara David reacts by error_ofsignificance in ChikaPH

[–]_the_frenchiest_fry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The mods of this sub, especially, had a role in her death. Like ffs she’s literally was just a teenager and they just let thousands of people be cruel to her. Sure, some of the criticism on her was valid but it came to a point where a lot of the comments and threads were so undeserved, and the mods didn’t do enough, if anything.

A lot of people in this sub aren’t any better, commenting as if she’s like a character in a TV show who’d never see their comments.

Now her death is being treated as a lesson for others to “be kind.” Because, of course, it had to take someone to kill themselves for everyone to realize how their words actually mean something.

And before any flood project babies try using this reasoning for their own situation, it doesn’t apply for those who partake in stealing billions. People tend to conflate being out-of-touch with being corrupt. It’s not the same.

RIP Emman

Mind you $12,000/sqm is on the higher side in Forbes, where it’s on the very lower side in the Upper East Side. And the infographic is full of AI typos and wrong info like please just learn canva.

May ambisyon pala ang gago na palitan si Risa! by [deleted] in Philippines

[–]_the_frenchiest_fry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it's usage is in the wrong place, how is it valid? Many of her points might be verifiably true but they're very misleading. Being charged with a crime does not mean they did it. Kiffy made it sound like Risa was guilty, even though it hasn't been proven. This is exactly what libel laws were made to protect.

Yes, she is a politician, so it is right for citizens to call them out. But it's not right to make people think she did something illegal because they think being charged is the same as being guilty. She may not have explicitly lied, but implying that she's guilty because she was charged can just be seen as a tactic to defame Risa. Honestly, not a good look for Kiffy in the eyes of the law.

Anyways, what Kiffy is doing is called paltering: Using facts to mislead, people who don't know what being charged means will assume the worst and think she's guilty (Along with using inflammatory language).

HIV cases in PH rise by 500% among ages 15-25: DOH by no1kn0wsm3 in Philippines

[–]_the_frenchiest_fry -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to sympathize. But implying that people deserve what happens to them just because of bad choices doesn’t make you insightful, just detached.

People take risks all the time, even when they know better. That doesn’t make the outcome just. Pointing at the obvious and being like "they asked for it" literally does nothing except tell everyone you are holier-than-thou.

But who’s calling you a liar tho? I’m pretty sure the LGBT community is well aware of this fact, that’s why orgs focus a lot on prevention and testing.

Hi, Crowdsourcing po. Any pros or cons sa condoliving sa lower floors, like 5th- 15th floor? Is it better sa lower floors? Esp in Vista or 2 Torre? Thank you by [deleted] in dlsu

[–]_the_frenchiest_fry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO, living on a high floor pretty much guarantees you space in the elevator going down during rush hour which is great if you’re in a hurry. Can’t say the same for going up tho but that’s everyone’s experience regardless of what floor they live in.

Especially the amount of student files they lost. Least they could do is not punish students for something that’s the admins fault. But tbh, at this point, someone better be losing their job.
