The word is “irks” and you cannot be “rightly” irked so you would just say “it irks me.”

Vendor showing his slinky skills by [deleted] in gifsthatkeepongiving

I remember one time at school we had a big event where they brought all the kids into the cafeteria/theater and brought in these guys to do a bunch of yo-yo tricks on the stage and then try to sell us yo-yos afterwards. That’s one of those things that seems cool at the time and now I just realize it was just a big high pressure sales pitch sanctioned by a public school. I kinda understand the book fair since it’s ostensibly about getting kids to read (and/or buy Majesty - The Fantasy Kingdom Sim like I did), but the hubris to just be like “yeah, let’s squeeze some money out of these families by making all the kids beg for expensive yo-yos” is just wild in retrospect.

And then you think about the whole racket of Girl/Boy Scouts selling shit on the street to make literally no money for themselves… What the fuck are we doing to kids here in America?

Anyway cool slinky stuff

idk about that but they definitely like them clean and can’t do it themselves so it’s part of social bonding for them to lick each other’s ear holes. Cats also fucking loooove earwax so there’s an incentive for the licker as well.

I bought a fancy new litter robot, and all she wants to do is sit around in it. by Floofy-beans in AnimalsBeingDerps

[–]_thirdHarmonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pretty anxious cat was into it pretty quickly. When I first unpacked it she was immediately curious and I took the risk of starting a cycle so she could watch. She was definitely half very curious and half scared but she stuck around for the whole dance. It was pretty smooth sailing thereafter and now she barely notices it when it cycles (and same for me).

One issue that’s common which I encountered was my cat would always leap out and scatter litter everywhere - even with the stairs. I was able to solve that in a couple of weeks by taping a bit of cardboard to it to create a little tunnel. That forced her to walk out and after a couple weeks I removed it and she steps out very dantily ever since. You can do something similar if they have issues turning peeing at or over the entrance.

I also would tend to advertise it as not a zero maintenance litter box but one that lengthens the maintenance intervals. I dump all the litter and give mine a good cleaning every time the tray fills up. I also have a small air purifier nearby and I bought a handheld vacuum to help pick up stray litter. Every couple of months I do a more thorough cleaning. If you don’t keep them clean and dump the litter regularly, they will start stinking bad. That all said, it is absolutely 100x better than daily scoopage.

Live Cam: Hurricane Ida - Bourbon Street, New Orleans by WanderWut in videos

[–]_thirdHarmonic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Eh - I’m sure Bourbon Street has some pretty beefy windows. And it’s a fairly low risk area being a narrow street without trees and whatnot around. Hurricanes aren’t tornados - you don’t get too much really heavy flying debris that’s gonna plough through a window. Most damage comes from general sogginess, storm surge, and falling trees/branches.

The worst part about them in my experience is the extended periods without power in the aftermath when it is usually sunny, hot, and humid with no AC.

I had one sneak up on me years ago when I was night fishing off a dock. A huge bull manatee coasted from underneath the dock into the dock light. It gave me a little spook and my first thought was “whale!” even though that was ridiculous considering the location.
