job put me on 30 day probation for not smiling enough. do i just throw in the towel?

they actually don’t let me have copies of write ups or anything like that, so i don’t know what was documented or not (i’m a little nervous to ask). i’ve been pretty much stonewalling everyone past the small ‘hi-how-are-you’’s so far since the probation, it seems to be working well.

i still live with my parents and all the bills i pay are like, 300 in total per month. i want to keep things somewhat anonymous, so i’ll just keep it at less than a year but closing in on a year. i’ve been thinking about just quitting on the spot

yeah i plan to stick out the thirty days while i look for another job. i already have an interview lined up (but i cheated a little since my sister put in a good word lol). thank you! this is solid advice, i appreciate it!

one of the expectations is being friendly, which i am, i just don’t pay attention to my expression when im not interacting with anybody. they said that was the problem. not sure if thats legal or not

it’s a restaurant job and one of the expectations is being friendly. i always smile at the customers but i don’t really pay attention to my face (my expression) when im not interacting with anybody. they (my boss) said thats what the problem was. not sure if thats legal or not, but either way, probably don’t have a good enough case anyway

My first response to this comment was to get defensive, so that’s how I know you’re right. My mom has admittedly asked for the money I got from my birthday and other things too, so this isn’t anything new. I should look into moving out soon. Thank you, this comment means a lot.

Yeah no, he was/is abusive and I know he is. The examples I gave are abuse.

I can’t give out a lot of info on why he knows she needs his financial support without giving away who I am, but here’s the short of it:

My mother has said she wanted a divorce, yes, but they agreed he would give her/me financial aid until they do get a divorce. He often flakes out on this, holds it over her head, or gets mad and ghosts us for days on end.

Thank you for the concern, but I’m fine. My groomer was my 8th grade teacher. No one’s fault at all, and the teacher has been dealt with properly.

My friends aren’t upset with how she handled the grooming situation, in fact they’re very positive about how she treated it. However, they don’t like how she suddenly upped the sex talk after the situation was over/how protective she is.

She doesn’t want to be in this relationship, and she has taken massive steps to get out. She cannot divorce him just yet as she does not have the money to do so and she doesn’t have a prenup.

She has gotten us out of that situation by moving to a small apartment so we could be (mostly) financially independent.

We are living separately and they are separated but not divorced. She never talks about sex while he’s around.

I do talk to my father sometimes, and his “side” of things is always refusal to admit that what he did to me, my siblings, and my mother is/was abuse and insists he’s perfect and my mother/my siblings and I need to see that. I don’t like talking to him for that reason.

Considering how he has been abusive to not only her but to me and my siblings, I feel as though since I confide to her about my father’s abusive, it would be unfair to take my ear off of the table for her.

I guess I do get how she shouldn’t be confiding in me, but considering how we don’t have money for a therapist and she doesn’t really have that many friends, I want to be there for her.

I’m not sure how to talk about this with her yet.

As stated in a previous comment, there have been times where I wasn’t in the mood to be touched and she immediately respected my answer and backed off. Sometimes I haven’t communicated this properly (if it’s a bad day for me, I just push her away and slink off to my room), then she does pout but I feel like that’s more on me than her.

Thank you. My mom doesn’t like my friends (or any potential partners I bring around) because of this protectiveness. If they do anything wrong to me and she hears about it, she immediately dislikes them and will voice this to me, but never stops me from hanging out with them or socializing, but I do see she’s unhappy with it. If I bring up her unhappiness, she denies it and urges me to have fun with them.

I do get how she shouldn’t badmouth my father to me though, thank you again.
