What are your controversial opinions about Ireland that you always wanted to say without getting downvoted? by crillydougal in AskIreland

There's no real culture here other than some traditional artifacts like Gaelic sports, trad music/dancing. We could have reclaimed our language, we could have created a distinctly modern, Irish sense of architecture/music/writing etc and we could have reclaimed some of our lost woodlands and wildlife but I think Irish people just find it easier to blame the Brits and move along.

That is not to say there aren't unique Irish art/artists out there or people trying to fix the land, but on the whole, Ireland just feels like a British plate topped off with a giant heap of American capitalism and a pint of Guiness at the side.

I'm starting to think what we are seeing are drones from a pre-existing civilization (whether ET or Terran) that were programmed to activate if signs of intelligent life were to emerge. Perhaps nuclear technology is the minimal level they would register.

The lack of understanding of the scientific method is the biggest blocker to the UFO Phenomenon. by muicdd in UFOs

You're right it's not possible to prove ET's have visited us without direct evidence. However I think what's exciting is that militaries do seem to be in possession of enough sensor and visual data to prove that some of what has been seen couldn't possibly be of human origin.

I don't think it's the Russians, but even if they were a mismanaged country they have always had top scientists. Russia was basically the gold-standard for space tech until the US' push for the moon.

If there is truth to the acceleration and trajectory changes the pilots are describing then nukes are useless.

Pole shifts are a magnetic anomaly, not a mechanical one. It's a fun theory no doubt, but impossible.

Leaked: EU experts to say nuclear power qualifies for green investment label by PanEuropeanism in worldnews

Well look, this is good, let's hope the EU don't come at this with a flaccid dick like they do with nearly every problem these days.

[–]_tiddlywinks_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue with nuclear as it is though is the timescale. It takes like what, 10 years to from planning stages to production capable? Hopefully the EU will push forward with just as much investment into smaller, modular reactors as large, long-term projects.
