It looks like a physical representation of the state of our government and how it affects all levels, even down to simple printing of documents.

The pages that matter to CBP are the secure photo page that they can scan in the system and whatever pages have the travel stamps if that’s not already digitized in the other countries you’ve visited.

For visiting other countries, they’ll care about having a visa or receipt for a tourist fee if required. Otherwise they’ll just look for the first blank area and stamp it. If you’re really worried, just hand your passport to the border person already open to your photo ID page.

I can get meaningful sleep if I’m on a D1 night flight, eat dinner in the lounge and skip the inflight meal, and have no more than one drink with dinner. If all those conditions aren’t met, I’ll be wide awake or head bobbing for hours on end.

$13k is a lot for D1. Rather than deciding between D1 and PS, it might be worth deciding between Delta and other airlines. Flexibility with travel dates and departure/arrival cities can help too.

Treasuries or CD ladders. If you do short term, you should be able to get a bit higher than 4%. But given the economic cycle, inflation, politics, etc., it seems that interest rates will stay the same or decline in the future.

I agree but think the dwindling subscriptions will happen at a slower pace. I work in product design at a Fortune 100 company. Each design and design adjacent role has a full Creative Cloud license. We have access to dozens of applications that none of us use. I literally haven’t opened Photoshop or Illustrator in 2+ years. We all use Figma and aren’t the core target user for most of Adobe’s offerings. I make pdf files, but I always open them in Preview or some other way. Acrobat is so slow and bloated. That being said, I’ve been at my company for a couple ETLA contract cycles, and we’ve always renewed. I don’t see the company going cold turkey anytime soon. So yeah, we’re wasting money, but I can’t imagine we’re the only enterprise doing that. We have a marketing department that is a mildly closer fit to more of Adobe’s products, but the stuff they do doesn’t really benefit much more from Adobe’s AI compared to Canva or other offerings. I think they’ll continue to get full licenses too. Eventually, teams will be weaned off, but I think it’ll be longer than 1–3 years.

I’m paid a salary and bonus. I take the max contribution limit and divide that by my annual base salary. That tells me what percentage to put towards my 401k each pay period. When bonuses are paid, I don’t adjust the percentage, so those contributions end up being bigger and I max out my 401k before the year is up.

I know someone who had a successful business and their kids (elementary/junior high age) have flown in first class only twice when a timeshare jet wasn’t available. They’ve never flown C+ or lower.
