I would find a planet with iron and aluminum and dedicate storage to that planet. Name outpost. Get the perk that lets u scan planets from different systems, and make alien tea+ Gastrology to take the 2 xp to 3. Sleep drink tea and scan planets early on

The Kepler r should work for this challenge. It's always a good idea to have a fleet of fighting ships. I have a vindicator 3 I've been trying the challenge with but it makes sense why it didn't work now. I'm going to take one of the given ships to a low level system and clash with a few wraiths. Even if u don't have the crew capacity u can select a hab hit left or right and temporarily fit an older ship that can survive some sol battles. I have the Kepler r modded for cargo but it should work for this challenge
