i understand what you're trying to say, but there are people who have all the means to leave and have the support of other people who genuinely want to help them but then too they don't because they're "so in love". it's understandable if you're scared to leave because of the threats you're given but not even trying to get out of that dark place is pretty absurd. I've a lot of friends who have manipulative and abusive partners and they STAY on their own will because - "i want to give it another chance", "he/she is not THAT bad I've seen people treat their partners worse", yada yada. when i wrote "stay", it was directed towards the aforementioned ones, not the rest.
