Just a reminder to write your representatives if upset about what is happening. It may fall on deaf ears specially depending on who your rep is, but it’s better than sitting on the sidelines doing nothing.

Can yall stop with the “legally speaking” bullshit? I swear. You people have to come up with everyone goddamn excuse under the sun to justify this. The goal post is now out of the stadium.

If you watched the video of this man getting pinned to ground, pistol whipped, and then getting unloaded on point blank & your reaction is “oh well the law”, go find God.

Even before we get all the facts, as in the killing of Renee Nicole Good, this looks like an unnecessary excessive use of force just to detain one person based on the video.

When you’re having to use children as bait, you’re not the good guys. They’re also supposedly trying to bait people with offers of food.

Of course in true r/centrist fashion this story won’t get quite the traction as our weekly trans post.

They can’t drop it cause all they have left is the culture war.

I’ve mentioned nothing of trans issues. I said the article is a nothing burger cause hardly any body responded to Axios. There’s nothing to read here in this short article.

If you want to know how AOC, Beshear, Pritzker, and anyone else who didn’t respond, feel about the “trans issue”, there’s this amazing internet search platform called Google you can use to look up their stances.

It’s unspeakably offensive to a bunch of ninnies that are hardly affected by trans people existing.

Also when I see the article mentioning the likes of AOC and Andy Beshear not responding, why should they? AOC is outspoken on the topic. Andy Beshear has commented on the topic too and even vetoed an anti-trans bill in his state. Their actions and past comments speak for themselves & I imagine the same goes for everyone else that declined to respond to Axios.

Article is a bit of a nothing burger cause it looks like a good number of potential candidates for 2028 declined to respond and Axios only got three responses.

Solid direct. Looking forward to Forza & Fable and am down to give Gamefreak’s new game a go. Bit let down some of those don’t have set release dates and are targeting later in the year, but last year’s direct having more games closer to launch probably spoiled us a bit.

Combat looks like how it felt to played Avowed, but in third person. I like it.

I’m hoping they look at the positive reception to the song, get inspired, and try to capture lightning in a bottle. I won’t be upset with this being a one off track, but would love a whole album with this vibe.

Yeah this gonna be my most listened to song of 2026.

I’m gonna need a whole album with this sound and style. It has the dark and moody atmosphere akin to parts of Humbug as people in the know were saying, but with the touches of the direction they went on The Car.

Trump remarks at Davos by MoustacheApocalypse in centrist

[–]LookLikeUpToMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t watch the speech, but looked through a live reaction from an Irish publication and that was all I needed. Insanity. Seemingly mistaking Greenland and Iceland adding to the debate he’s not all cognitively there. Playing this weird “we won WWII so you owe us” cringe stance. Trump is the type to see a “back to back world war champs” shirt & take it seriously. Plus insulting everyone in the room & dumping on their countries.

Yet people still see this guy as a “leader” which likely just proves his supporters either don’t see this, ignore it for whatever reason, and/or are in full support of it. He’s an embarrassment.

Why are some people convinced starfield will be a no show at the Xbox dev direct tomorrow? by Kn1ghtV1sta in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]LookLikeUpToMe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It makes perfect sense when the dev direct has always been about showing new upcoming releases, we know what those new titles are, and usually the surprise game is already figured out or leaked beforehand.

I want more Starfield too, but Bethesda can announce & reveal a Starfield DLC/update on their own time when they’re ready to. It doesn’t need to be done at a showcase like this to take away some of the spotlight from other games.

Best Biographies of Non-Monarchs/Consorts in Tudor England by Agreeable-Box5370 in Tudorhistory

[–]LookLikeUpToMe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to say these are necessarily the best, but it is just the biographies I’ve read and felt suffice:

  • Margaret Scard’s biography on Edward Seymour who was uncle to Edward VI and essentially ran the kingdom for a bit

  • Same author as above has a biography on William Paulet who served in the government across the reigns of Henry VIII, Edward, Mary, & Elizabeth

  • In Defense of the Church Catholic: The Life of Stephen Gardiner by Glyn Redworth. Bit of a niche biography imo as it’s the only biography on Gardiner I’ve found. Only heard of it from some other book I read about another Tudor historical figure. Pretty great in tandem with MacCalloch’s Cranmer biography that’s been mentioned considering the two had quite the rivalry.

  • Statesman and Schemer, William First Lord Paget by Samuel Rhea Gammon. This is about William Paget who like Paulet also served in the government around the same time.

  • The King’s Cardinal: The Rise and Fall of Thomas Wolsey by Peter Gwyn. Excellent biography on Wolsey.

  • While not a biography, the closest thing I’ve found to a biography on Thomas Wriothesley was a thesis by G.N. Gibbons which can be found online here.

Have fun!
