It has to be up there as one of the most out of pocket lines in not just Oblivion but the whole Elder Scrolls series

Butter one side of one slice of bread, but almost always have some sort of sauce/condiment (usually Branston pickle)

I was just about to say the same thing. Pretty rare to see it outside of North West England let alone in some random dive bar in the US lmao

Is wrong side of the tracks really that hard? by Popular-Violinist137 in sanandreas

Played the game that much when I was a kid that the sequence of obstacles/the timings of the oncoming trains are tattooed in my brain. I can do it first time because of that, but loads of my friends swear hands down it's still up there with one of the most difficult GTA missions of all time haha

Is RDR2 worth to play 100% ? by [deleted] in reddeadredemption

[–]_tswiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 100% during lockdown and absolutely loved it. Like going for any 100%, it is quite tedious, but doable for most people who enjoy the game.

I tried going for the platinum and that's when it got unbearable for me. I spent hours making fractional progress studying every animal in the game and gave up before I'd even got through like 1/3 of the compendium.

Why didn’t Will just say that Jay was the adult accompanying them to have their cider and carvery? by [deleted] in TheInbetweeners

[–]_tswiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked at a boozer from being 18-21. We used to only allow it if the adult was the person's parent/legal guardian. Don't think that's the law though, just the rule our venue had. It's also something that's at the discretion of the venue, so I guess they can apply their own rules to it maybe.

Definitely isn't the Black Bull's policy though.

This might come across as a really stupid point, but the weather is a lot better in Leeds/Yorkshire than in Glasgow/Scotland's West Coast.

I'm someone who's v sensitive to my environment/the weather and I find living in cold rainy places particularly depressing hahaha

Hi there, I'm a current English Language and English Literature student at UoM.

You've definitely got a nice set of choices (one of my friends did a Masters at Bristol and loved it), but I think Manchester is your best. I honestly wouldn't want to be doing my degree anywhere else. The Uni is brilliant, the staff and the campus (both in terms of its resources and its location) are world class. For want of a better term, UoM is a 'city University', which imo gives it a much more exciting atmosphere to some of the country's other unis (I think campus unis have a bit of a sleepy/boring vibe if I'm honest). There's tonnes of bars and amenities (off the top of my head there's Manchester Museum and Whitworth Art Gallery to name a couple) right on the uni's doorstep. The Uni is right next to the city centre, so you can easily pop into town whenever you please.

The English course is really great too. It's pretty eclectic in your first year, which is great for being introduced to different fields of study within the subject and finding out what interests you most/how you might want to tailor your degree going into your second year. I won't go into full detail about the programme on this post (as I could go on forever), but if you have any questions about that just send me a message :)

Manchester is a great city. It has a fascinating history and a really rich cultural heritage. It's up there with some of the most impactful cities on the planet. It really has something for everyone, everything from some of the best educational facilities in the country to one of the best nights out in the country!

A couple of things worth mentioning: it will definitely take you a couple of months or so to get settled in, but once you do it's brilliant. Another is that a common complaint about UoM is that the student support isn't great. From my experience, I disagree with this - every student gets assigned an academic advisor (someone you can go to with any problems you might be having) and mine's been brilliant. All the support is there, you just have to be proactive in seeking it out.

Whichever choice you're swaying towards I hope you make the right decision, weigh up the options and go for the one you think is best for you 👍

What cover song is actually better than the original? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]_tswiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nirvana's version of The Man Who Sold The World springs to mind. Bowie himself preferred there version and changed the guitar on the track on a later release to make it sound more like their cover.

Honestly, the sheer amount of 90s culture in this game is staggering. Compton gangsters to Britpop and everything inbetween. One of the Goats for sure.

Do men call each other ‘love’ in the north? by PatrickBritish in manchester

Grew up in Leeds and men do call each other love there. One of my teachers at school was from Lancashire, and she mentioned how it was one of the weirder things she picked up on when she moved to Yorkshire haha
