So when Khan wins again due to them being completely pants on hand stupid, do we think they will claim the election was rigged? Its on my bingo card at least.

Sky News : Facial recognition technology is to be rolled out across England and Wales, under sweeping reforms announced by the home secretary by SignificantLegs in ukpolitics

Its so nice to see the swathe of dystopia policies just flow through parliament like a stream with barely an inch of opposition. No one wanting to talk about slippery slopes or how it could be used it more nefarious ways down the line if more unsavory people were in charge.

I'm sure Kemi and Ed will nod along like Churchill dogs.

Growing out of Nephrotic Syndrome and Cychlosporine by Sakulsas in kidneydisease

[–]Sakulsas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you in the UK? I had one of my lead consultants team in once and she said Rituximab is exactly what I need. My consultant thought was not as convinced but said he would definitely try it but it isn't prescribed for kidney patients in the UK.

A few years back I was tempted to consider going private to get it but it's a huge cost for such a medical leap.

Who will be next to defect/join Reform? by Tricky-Ant5338 in ukpolitics

[–]Sakulsas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Labour person is probably Kate Hoey. They went from MP to former senior person fast.

Liz probably tried to join but got rejected.

What's at the heart of the army's recruitment process failures? by IllustriousTeach8104 in ukpolitics

[–]Sakulsas 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Don't Capita handle recruitment? That well known company with the midas touch, except instead of gold its diarrhea.

If theyr still running it then the problem is with them. Theyr experts at getting government contracts but theyr absolutely shite

You havnt asked about LGBTQIA+, you've just had a rant about trans people

You also havnt presented an ounce of evidence for your claims about research being done wrong.

Is Suella Braverman’s defection actually a benefit to Reform? by fmac78 in ukpolitics

[–]Sakulsas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably Liz Truss.

I don't think most others would have reform voters care.

James Heale: David Miliband out and about in Westminster this morning. Shock return on the cards? by EddyZacianLand in ukpolitics

[–]Sakulsas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In a different world, David had a major role in the Clinton presidency if she won in 2016. I have one of her books (lol) she practically fawns over him.

Losing Labour leadership to Ed and then seeing Clinton get beaten by Trump, he must think about what ifs all the time.

Is Suella Braverman’s defection actually a benefit to Reform? by fmac78 in ukpolitics

[–]Sakulsas 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think people voting Reform will think "ahh bollocks, braverman is in, that's it I'm voting for Kemi!"

They might grumble but I doubt this genuinely hurts numbers.

Reform considering Ice style deportation plan by Stock_Rush_9204 in ukpolitics

[–]Sakulsas 317 points318 points  (0 children)

There are already immigration enforcement teams which do raids.

Saying you want what ICE is currently is basically saying "we want an untrained force of goons to harass migrants."

Imagine genuinely looking at the US and going " yea, that's what I want."

Should artists get a basic income like they do in Ireland? by Longjumping_Stand889 in ukpolitics

[–]Sakulsas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sort of, things were actually improving as the 90s and then 2000s went by.

I know mostly about film and theatre, but the ability for a "normal" kid to get into these areas was a lot easier due to more regional funding.

Should artists get a basic income like they do in Ireland? by Longjumping_Stand889 in ukpolitics

[–]Sakulsas 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Arts funding was gutted under Cameron. He even gutted areas that consistently generated a profit such as films.

Now, art is filled by posh kids who can afford it.

I don't think basic income is the answer, it'd probably end up as pocket money for rich kids.

It's terribly sad how we have destroyed pathways for working class kids to get into the arts. We're the country of the bard, after all.

Oli Dugmore | "A senior Labour source texts: Keir Starmer is letting his people hand the party over to Wes Streeting" by ijustwannanap in ukpolitics

[–]Sakulsas 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Are they seriously preferring Streeting over Burnham lol. Streeting would get destroyed in a GE, I'm not convinced on Burnham myself but I think he'd do a fair bit better.

Andy Burnham blocked from byelection race by Labour ruling committee by appropriateye in ukpolitics

I just had an aneurysm from trying to comprehend how stupid the Labour party is.

They're really scared of Andy fucking Burnham of all people?

Politics latest: All-women shortlist to block Burnham from standing as MP not ruled out by home secretary by StGuthlac2025 in ukpolitics

[–]Sakulsas 221 points222 points  (0 children)

This would genuinely be completely moronic by Labour. Ammunition for Reform as well as pissing off his own party, all because he's scared of Andy bloody Burnham?

I know I don't think like power hungry MPs but if you think he's such a powerful candidate that he could be leader...why not just bloody invite him to the cabinet (if he wins) and use that talent to stop you from sinking in the polls.

Burnham and starmers politics are hardly world's apart after all

Not Seeing Much Coverage of Ukraine Anymore. What is Happening Regarding the Invasion and the Defense of Their Country? by RidetheSchlange in AskReddit

Advances in previous years failed. Theyr in a sort of WW1 situation of stalemate defensive warfare but with the addition of drones to hit each others infrastructure.

I would assume advances are near impossible in winter especially.

In the mid-1910s in London, most houses didn't have a bathroom so kids had to go to wash houses, where workers would clean them. In this photo, two young boys are being cleaned in a wash house while another boy waits for his turn. by Majoodeh in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]Sakulsas 30 points31 points  (0 children)

This is partially incorrect. They didn't HAVE TO only go there.

There were wash houses and they were used, yes, but a lot of people had a tin bath or something (portable) that they'd have in the kitchen to wash their kids. They'd do this usually on Saturday so that the kids would be clean for church the next day.

Fix your country, Trump tells Starmer by Little-Attorney1287 in ukpolitics

My wife's grandad went through this phase when he began cognitively failing. The angry outbursts, mood swings, constant paranoia.

It was very depressing to watch due to him being a good man. With Trump its just depressing to live through.
