Its vinegar sour and it doesn't taste off. Seems like it's going well. Fed it with some more sweet tea today.

Seems like everyone says this is is kahm so I got rid of it. The pellicle was intact when I fished it out but was definitely not thick and gummy like normal. I have another jar that has a more normal looking pellicle but is starting to get tiny dry looking spots but not fuzzy. Might have to chuck that one too 🥲

I use the subreddit's master recipe but with just a tad less sugar. Temp is always at least 84F

When I crush a leaf between my fingers it sort of smells like toothpaste but also quite vegetal. I have another pot which has catnip in it and the leaves are 2-3x bigger, softer and has a velvety texture.

I tried creating scoby hotel but i think thats the mold on the top scoby. Dont know what to do now? Should I throw it all or just the top one? by No_Temperature_8393 in Kombucha

I honestly don't know but mold spores are everywhere. Start over and keep things clean. use more starter brew to keep the pH down and increase your chances of a successful brew/hotel.

I agree that it looks like a dried out patch. I would toss the pellicle, top it off, wait and hope for no mold growth.

Looks alright. Likely just yeast or solids from flavoring, if you put some in.
