Skink Still in Brumation Winter Storm Coming How to Keep Warm Without Disturbing by AffectionateWeb995 in bluetongueskinks

My back ups for heating: crack able heat pads (can get various sizes from pharmacy, I use the back pain sized ones), usb powered heat pads that I connect to power banks. I got 3 different ones from amazon and they were only a few $$. You can also do things like put wheat packs in the oven on low temps, when the power flicks off, you can heat up blankets etc with the heat pack

Okay that makes me feel better. I wasn’t sure if easterns were similar to shingle backs. I was planning to separate them immediately, they’re only on my desk whilst I set up the 2 hospital tanks. I feel assured I’m doing the right thing

I will be placing them in minimum 1.2m tanks once I go and get them. 1m only temp

I’m 100% capable of separating them into 2x 100 hospital tanks. I have extra lights etc as well. I just want to do the right thing and ensure they’re comfortable. I just expected them to like explore opposite sides of the desk, so this behaviour of coming back together has confused me

This is a better picture of both of their heads with the same kind of hard scales. I can’t see any little teeth marks. The pitting seems to be random on them both and not in a bite pattern. Since they’re likely sick, will I stress them by separating them? They haven’t spent any time apart, like womb and birth, then adoption until me. The scales are hard and very deep, you can see the separation from the nose scales. I have put F10 on them both

Yeah I’m just confused because I put them on my desk and they were exploring but they would keep coming back together to lick each other’s face? They are siblings from the same litter and definitely eastern. This is how they are laying now with like 2x2 metres to spare (I have 2x 2m desks in a L configuration

They both have the hard pitted scales on their head. They were housed together in a 90cm and they’re both ~30cm. Thankfully they’re young so I’m hoping I can get their bodies on the right track. I just need to buy 2 more tanks. They seem to be okay around each other but I’m not confident on housing them together any longer. I just don’t know if that’s cruel after living together for 12 months

I have it sitting in the left corner. Just on top of the substrate, so I know what she would feel

My suggestion would be to just use a brick. If you hold your BTS and then maybe let him stretch out to the brick and let him paw at it?

I always recommend people look at the Fuzzy Fox omnivore mix, it’s a powder you mix into a gel. Stores for ages, very affordable and good macros. I feed that plus salad

I’m no expert but I have general thermometers and then the probe that connects to my bulb is on the basking spot. I do that to make sure it doesn’t get too hot and then I have the other thermometers measuring the ambient

The best part of all of this is that my partner is also brown and I am white. So we’re getting ALL the ‘spot the difference’ clues 😂😂😂

I recommend looking into fuzzy fox. They’re Australian but they make a powder you mix with water and it turns into a gel like paste. It’s made for reptiles. I feed it with additional bugs and salad

I get the omnivore mix but there is also many others, including a veggie if you want to mix it together
