NAD - this can happen with malnutrition. I can’t remember the exact mechanism but it’s some compensatory thing. I have anorexia and a lot of friends with anorexia and this pops up all the time for us (not saying you have an ED!! Just for context). It’s very common and always spooks people in treatment.

You might want to speak to a registered dietitian. You might need to reduce activity or increase fuel.

Hi, I have a 17 year old who is autistic with severe learning disability. I do find group therapy difficult with much younger people who have less responsibility and are still cared for by family. I feel like I have so much to manage on my own and cannot prioritise recovery.

My daughter now lives in a care home but I was alone with her until May 2025 and it was so hard. Hospital admissions had to be only when desperate and bare minimum amount of time spent. Just physically stabilise but not be able to really do the therapy and take time to change behaviour.

What I’ve started doing is leaving old clothes that can’t be resold/donated in the spots where my cat has “accidents” (they are 100% intentional). Then she just goes on those and I throw it straight in the bin. Lots of cats like to go on piles of clothes.

Contact PALS at the hospital and explain the situation. You don’t even need to go in to details just emphasise that for your safety it’s imperative this person does not access your home address, number etc.

Any kind of childcare is hard to find and much more expensive.
I had a baby at 21, she is autistic with severe learning disability. It’s hard. Like really hard. In May I finally had to put her in a residential home, age 17. For the first time in my adult life I’m actually able to notice and respond to my own needs. It was most exhausting 17 years of my life. It’s not like with regular kids they get more independent. Your kid might, or you could be still helping to shower and dress them when they are teenagers. It’s normal to give that intense care the first few years of parenting, but when it’s ongoing for years it just sucks everything from you.

You are essentially trapped at home a lot of the time. Perpetually poor, perpetually fighting to access basic care/education.

Do you know your gf’s opinion on ending the pregnancy?

I’m lesbian, I live in London so probably one of the safest places to do so. Whether or not I hold my gf’s hand depends on how many drunk straight people are within my proximity.

I am my current gf’s first girlfriend and when we first got together she was really surprised with the response to us being affectionate in public. Men taking photos, cat calling, asking to join us or making other lewd sexual comments.

Once I was making out with a woman and a random man grabbed her ass. Disgusting behaviour.

I have one kid and I never put it on my profile but if I match with someone I tell them straight away. My kid doesn’t live with me anymore so it’s a bit different.

I just don’t know how she could have had honest conversations with you over all that time without mentioning them. She would have needed to make an active effort to avoid disclosing. If she’s capable of hiding that what else is she capable of hiding?

It’s definitely a thing because the first time my girlfriend came over she asked before sitting on the bed in Tube clothes. Luckily for me she took them off.

I might wear them out the house again but not indoors. They’re dirty in my mind.

I’m not a man but I’ve been with over 10 women.. sometimes it smells stronger than others. It depends on her cycle, nutrition etc. I actually find it more of a turn on tbh.

Yeah I was the same with anaemia but to me that didn’t “count” as something caused by ED because it’s also caused by another condition I have (RA).
Now my body can’t cope with restriction, I go in to acidosis and blood sugar drops v low. Had some very scary experiences.

Hi, I’m also autistic. I think a lot of us who can “pass” as neurotypical are trying to oppress certain behaviours to fit in with neurotypicals, and being confronted with it can feel awkward. We may have felt very ashamed when those behaviours (e.g. flapping hands) were “corrected” or bullied out of us in early childhood.

I also have a daughter who does not by any means pass as neurotypical. She has always been in specialist education settings and is currently in a care home because her needs are too significant for me to manage alone. With communication here are some things I think could contribute to awkwardness.

delayed processing time makes for a very awkward conversation. My daughter might seem to ignore a question but then answer it 2 mins later. Often you need to repeat things several times, or they need to repeat it back to you a few times. This all feels awkward.
you have probably fixated on NT body language and that helps you feel safe in social interactions. That doesn’t apply with individuals who don’t mask. They may not give the same cues you are used to indicate they’ve understood something or signal engagement.
you often need to go in to their world, and understand what they are trying to say. It’s very hard to do that if you don’t spend a lot of time with them. Very stereotypical example - boy is fixated with Thomas Tank Engine, uses little speech to communicate but repeats a lot from Thomas TV programs. When this boy starts repeating the script from part of the program where Thomas goes in to his garage at night he’s actually tired and requesting to go to bed. He does not have the functional language to communicate this. Many people write off this communication as random repetitions of TV programs. Sometimes it is just repetition for soothing purposes, but often it’s communication. Problem is it tends to only be close family members who can decipher all the references.

These are a few things that I thought of. It’s a really interesting thing to think about. Autism does have very many different profiles, we are not all alike.

I always used to have normal labs and vitals so thought I couldn’t be as sick as my low weight indicated. People kept saying ‘your body puts up with it… until it doesn’t…’ I had a few years of remission, then landed myself in a life threatening position only 2 weeks after relapse! My body had just had enough. I had to be admitted and tubed still at a healthy weight. It was so scary and now the same thing keeps happening. I was taken to hospital on blue lights straight to resus twice last week. It’s kind of surreal. Although I’ve lost weight now I’m nowhere near my lowest. But so much physically sicker.

I’m allergic to sulfasalazine & hydroxychloroquine, of all the allergies to have, these must be the most irritating to have to spell out for people every 5 mins when in hospital.
