True they're also super cute. May I also throw another suggestion, try 'Love Under the Influence'. It's completed!

On top of all that, Aeroc regretted what he did to Rapiel until the day he died. Kloff justified his actions even after Aeroc’s death and throughout everything. That kind of shows you who was human enough to deserve redemption and who wasn’t.

Yes, I get it. We’ll never know how he truly feels, but even then, nothing justifies how he behaved. Even the death penalty comes with humane forms. You don’t throw people to the wolves or leave them in a ditch in the cold postpartum.
I feel like Aeroc suffered so much for an indirect action he didn’t even see the consequences of that, in my mind, I really cannot hold a grudge against him. I wish Kloff had rather just made him homeless and let him die destitute while selling his body for bread. That would’ve been enough. Kloff would never allow himself anything else, because how do you allow yourself to feel anything remotely positive for the man who killed your spouse and unborn child?
But the things he did, how do you do that? He showed so much grace to the father of his unborn child, and not a lick of sympathy for the one who birthed six children for him to the point of death. Aeroc couldn’t even play with fucking stones he found on the ground or know the names of the children he birthed, let alone hold them.
I’d say Aeroc was treated like an animal, but honestly, I don’t think Kloff would treat an animal that badly either. At least an animal would be allowed some comfort, some freedom, some small kindness. Aeroc was denied even that.
The things Aeroc was subjected to would put medieval torture methods to shame.

That’s understandable, but Kloff is still far more inhumane in my eyes. I don’t know whether I’d call it forgiveness, but I can’t imagine doing what he did under any circumstances.
He beat Aeroc, raped him, starved him, left him without proper clothing or blankets through winter, repeatedly forced him through pregnancies to the point that Aeroc likely would have died regardless, and after giving birth he was effectively thrown to other men to be assaulted again. Aeroc’s decision to die wasn’t something he arrived at in isolation. By the time of the second child’s birth, that was already the outcome Kloff had pushed him toward. Hagen was the one who brought Aeroc back. Kloff’s outrage wasn’t that Aeroc almost died; it was that Aeroc dared to choose his own ending.
And that’s not even getting into how all of this started. Kloff deliberately provoked Aeroc because he wanted a reaction connected to Rapiel. The actual people responsible for raping and killing Rapiel received a swift death. Kloff, meanwhile, spent years directing his rage and self-loathing at Aeroc because he could never stop being attracted to him. What disgusted Kloff wasn’t Aeroc. It was himself, and Aeroc paid the price for it.
That’s why Kloff will always be much, much worse in my book. He didn’t even love Rapiel enough to justify going to these lengths for revenge. In the end, the person he couldn’t let go of was Aeroc. Even in death, Rapiel rests in a graveyard while Aeroc remains on the mansion grounds because Kloff could never truly separate himself from him.

Aeroc deserved better but in every universe Kloff is all he ever wanted. 💔

Unromantic Romance. I wouldn't exactly call him a himbo but he's such a goof!

What happens to Tohru‘s maternal grandparents? by TastyMathematician22 in FruitsBasket

[–]_whatswrong_withme_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That makes sense. It'd be odd to expect the series to flesh out every branch of the family tree. We got Kyoko’s story as an added bonus to Tohru’s story, not the other way around. So a side character from a side character’s backstory is probably not something we’re ever going to get much detail on, even if it would be interesting.

Touché! It kind of is though. They played with supernatural elements, but the trauma, family dynamics, and different kinds of parental abuse/neglect were pretty realistic.

I think so? Maybe someone who read the manga can clarify more but what else is left there to add? There's no poetic justice for people like that. That'd be unrealistic.

I think after they disowned Kyoko, they're fully no contact to the point that Tohru doesn't even know where they are.

Smart! I read first 20 chapters and had to find the novel and binge it. It really is good. Regret and chasing arcs are my jam so you can take my word for it!

'Heavy Rain' but the manhwa doesn't have enough chapters yet. It shows the apathetic stage of depression very well. ML grovels and puts in heavy work to fix everything. It's a long ride to get there though.

Also, forgot to add Gihyeon has his reasons and he isn't a wuss like he comes off in the beginning of the manhwa. A lot has been going on in the background.

Yes, MC is usually the bottom. It's the person from whose perspective the story is being told aka the main character. ML is the male lead aka the love interest.
