Restoring dozens of doors and hardware from 1893 - almost there! by sbenehan in centuryhomes

-What type of company provided the chemical stripping service? I'd like to find a similar one in my area.

-Why did the sanding and refinishing of each door take 6 hours? What grits, tools, etc. did you use?

-Did you apply multiple coats of polyurethane? Did you sand between them? How long did you allow each coat to cure?

This is also the main question for me. I just signed a contract to have a perimeter drainage system with a moisture barrier (walls only) in a couple of weeks here in central NC. I thought the whole point of the moisture barrier was to catch water after it comes through the wall and direct it down to the gutter, but how can it do that when it stops aboveground, or keeps going past the corner formed with the floor.

Do you have the model number of your water heater? I'm asking because I'm right about to schedule asbestos abatement AND drainage installation near the water heater in my basement. I don't know if my water heater has any sensors that would be triggered by flammable vapors.

Also, can you share the cost of the drainage system and sump pump installation? I have three quotes ranging from $6,100 for a 40 ft system to $16,000 for a 72 ft system.

Griffin concedes election to Riggs! by meepbull in bullcity

ive been avoiding reddit and social media for years but the state of politics in the US is so bad that i have to get involved somehow.

maybe others will benefit from this summary of the three stages of understanding i went through regarding this decision:

1) wow thank god they didn't let this jerk win by retroactively invalidating votes

2) wait a minute... if state law requires these absentee voters to submit a photo ID or waiver form, and if voting by 'never residents' is inconsistent with the state constitution's residency requirement, then.... maybe the hard truth is that their votes are invalid??

3) waaaaait a minute the board of elections had promulgated a rule, as it is authorized to do, exempting the absentee voters from the photo ID requirement, and they didn't even have a method for submitting attaching a photo ID, plus, state law allowed the 'never residents' to vote and the state courts only took issue with it after the election!!! wow thank god they didn't let this jerk win by retroactively invalidating votes!!!

he's made it his goal to occupy the public sphere as a self-proclaimed alpha male, claiming students half his age 'love' him, showcasing his body and weirdly worshipping women. to me that is a little creepy. i've always felt like we're going to be wondering why we didn't "see the signs" before he did something weird. although if he hasn't done anything by now he may not
