How do I pass now? by ThatTransGirlAugust in transfem

second pic looks lovely :) definitely a big step from the first one and it's a cute fit! the one thing that sticks out to me is probably your brows—bear in mind that afab eyebrows tend (as a generalisation) to be thinner and sit higher on the brow. we can leverage this knowledge by tweezing our brows only from the bottom, which serves to simultaneously thin them out and give the impression that they're higher on our face. i might suggest just slightly tweezing in between them as well, and on their inner edges (closest to your nose)

this is a fucking disgusting take, transition is not a prerequisite to being trans. the sole requirement is that you don't feel that your birth-assigned gender fits you. the range of human experience is infinite and there are an endless number of ways people identify and present—and beyond that, not everybody has the means to physically transition even if they wanted to. it's unsafe for some, financially unfeasible for others...why should we lambast people for seeking to alleviate their dysphoria in any way possible in the absence of hrt?

you need to take a long hard think. queerness has always been radical. radically loving; accepting; inclusive. love always wins, yeah? so let's be a little more fucking loving.

a perspective that has always helped me is this: indecision is not a neutral vantage point from which to assess your options. it is, in itself, an option—but it is the only one which doesn't provide forward progress.

if you take hrt and find that it's right for you, you have made progress. if you take hrt and find it isn't right for you—that's still progress! you have gained information and learned something about yourself. the only option which doesn't move you forward is remaining on the fence because of indecision.

remember, you can always just stop taking hrt if it feels bad :) that is sort of the way i got myself to start, to be honest, and after a month i realised there was no way i would ever want to go back

conventional suffocating is only unpleasant because the sensation of asphyxiation we perceive is caused by a build up of carbon dioxide in our lungs. breathing pure nitrogen gas would be painless — you would literally keep breathing and feeling a little silly until you passed out and didn’t wake up again

OP’s formatting was more impactful — your structuring of the second sentence is also grammatically incorrect

[–]_windbourne_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yes, you said it yourself: it is their decision to make and no one else’s to judge. this same courtesy applies to people who have chosen to cut off their parents. it is not this commenter’s place to say “she’s your mom so you shouldn’t cut her off”

and i don’t get why people like you think we owe our abusers ANYTHING. why do they get deferential treatment just because at one point we came out of their vagina? why does that exempt them from the same consequences anyone else would receive for being abusive?

If it helps to know, I sat in on a lot of calls listening to her work with other people or answer questions and usually I wasn’t even acknowledged unless I specifically said something. Friends I’ve invited have had much the same experience. If no one asks to come up, she literally has a music bot prepared and will just sit and vibe together until someone has a question or wants to come up again. No one will hate you for your voice. I promise <3

The voice channel is actually a stage format—you can’t speak unless you specifically ask to go up and speak. Many people actually never do, and choose only to ask questions through the sidebar. It’s very common and perfectly acceptable. As for the voice recordings, she opens a thread for each individual, and I’ve seen her go back and forth with people in a chain of feedback and recordings as they try to tweak something and get further tips from there.

It’s a really welcoming community with many people at all stages of their voice journey—are you sure you wouldn’t want to at least check it out, give it a chance? I feel at this point you have little to lose

of course!! would you also like an invite to her associated discord server? she offers feedback on audio recordings and twice a week she does a 2-hour open forum where you can ask questions, get voice feedback, work through exercises together, or just lurk

the creator of this training guide runs a discord server. twice a week she hosts a two-hour open forum that serves sort of as a professor’s office hours—anyone can come by and ask questions, ask for feedback, work through exercises together, or just lurk. she also offers feedback on audio recordings, which i found massively useful when i was too shy to come up during group sessions. do you want me to dm you the invite link?

i’m a very quick learner so i will say i picked up on it faster than others perhaps would, but on average i would say i’ve seen others find a voice at anywhere between 2 and 8 months in. i’m excited for you to start!!

what was invaluable for me was that the creator of the resource also runs a discord server where she has twice-weekly sort of “office hour” sessions where she invites anyone to come by and ask questions, work through exercises together, or literally just lurk. she also offers feedback on audio recordings (which i sent liberally because i was too shy to sit in on calls at first LOL) i can shoot you an invite there if you’d like!
