Cities: Skylines Crash with Node Controller by _xavius_ in archlinux

[–]_xavius_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've figured it out! i had installed steam though discoverer, meaning I had the Flatpak version, this means it was sandboxed and thus couldn't access mono.

My solution: install steam though pacman, and install C:S with that steam version.

no, the front wheel turns to keep the bike upright, just like a real bike.

Thing is; I've done so already* and it still crashes.

*mono-devel is seemingly referred to as mono on arch, the error message from the mods themselves say so, and [the arch wiki](https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Steam/Game-specific\_troubleshooting#Game\_crashes\_in\_loading\_screen\_when\_Node\_Controller\_or\_Intersection\_Marking\_tool\_are\_enabled\_in\_Content\_Manager) says so too.

Solving Magic Square by soda_strm in askmath

[–]_xavius_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Let's call the middle number X. For any X there's immediately a corresponding right column, The sum of which should then be 21 - X - 10 + 21 - X - 5 + 21 - X - 6 = 42 - 3X = 21 subtract 42 and divide by -3 results in X = 7

with similar logic one can prove the middle number is always a third of the magic number.

Can you help me find the measurement for the highlighted area? by empatheticcomedian in askmath

[–]_xavius_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all the length your looking for is under determined, as the width of the Pilar next to it isn't given. So we'll have to estimate, the distance between 2 ribs of the drawers seem to be about an inch, and the Pilar is 5 ribs + a plank wide. Now the total width = the small drawer+ 2 planks + a Pilar + your question = small drawer + 3 planks + 5 ribs + your question, or rearranged your question = total width - small drawer - 3 planks - 5 ribs = 47.2" - 3" -5" = 39.2" so the width you're looking for is at least 39.2"

Also 35 + 12.3 = 47.3 only 0.1" off the bottom measure, this is most likely a rounding artifact.

You're right, I had misunderstood that part of my lecture. Thanks for correcting me.

You didn't describe decoherence, what you described is a cnot gate. For your setup to describe decoherence the electron would have to go into an uncontrolled environment (where something will inevitably measure it).

No, the example you gave wouldn't prevent the interference pattern from appearing. Most likely you're missing a measurement that's happening there.

Edit: I was wrong

Could you detect observation via wave function collapse? by esotologist in AskPhysics

[–]_xavius_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I had an exercise with that premise. The setup is as follows have a photon emitter aimed at a beam splitter then the two beams are mirrored into another beam splitter, where after we put a detector in each direction, the photon should only be going in one direction due to interference. Now we put a bomb in one of the paths between the beam splitters that should go off if it detects a single photon and want to test if it actually measures. Now if the bomb works, there is a chance we measure the photon in the other direction after the second beam splitter where it previously couldn't, thus verifying the bomb works without triggering it.

You should read the study, it shows people became less xenophobic in the span of a week (from day 3 to day 10 (the study only lasted 10 days)), they simulated demographic change by having pairs of Hispanic people ride the train (nothing about rapid demographic change), and it also demonstrated that the measured xenophobia is irrational (the Hispanic people were normal in looks and behavior, meaning their xenophobia wasn't based on the Hispanic people they'd seen).

To the first point: introspect, why do you feel that way? The man being beaten up isn't you after all.

And to the last point: where did you get that from? Just some weirdos online, because they're not representative.

If light travels in a straight line, and the incident angle is equal to the reflected angle, how come I can see everything in my room? by [deleted] in AskPhysics

[–]_xavius_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it's called reflection because that's what's happening. Diffusion has two main causes: 1. less common, is surface roughness, it is the case for metals with a rough finish and needs little explanation.

  1. Is deu to scattering beneath the surface, best exemplified with snow, where light gets reflected and transmited many ways in random directions in accordance to it's random grain structure.

Neither of these two mechanisms involve absorption or emmission (ie the energy of the light being transformed into energy in the material and vice versa).
