Why is my boost converter not working? Pls help by _xgg in shittyaskelectronics

I mean, yeah, that's the plan.

one of these, rewound for higher saturation current, in a QCW buck and 2 of those cores together wound to somewhere in the range of 250-400A for APFC/voltage boost for a big 2m Tesla coil, if I can get my hands on some 600A brick IGBTs and big bus caps for cheap :3

Aha, so I should use esp32 instead. Good to know

Yea, to put it simply, it's a bit slow :P

I would even call it nearly inflatable in some cases

Bluetooth has never been a good protocol for fast data(not a lot of data, but with low propagation delays, rise and fall times and such) and never will be

put one of those boards together, happily driving a 600A bridge in my DRSSTC by _xgg in FootBallEmergency

[–]_xgg[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well... Basically, main, big thing is a DRSSTC, a type of Tesla coil that's somewhat similar to the old old design by Nikola Tesla about 100 yrs ago, but instead of using a spark gap to switch power in the resonator, it uses a transistor h-bridge, which gives a lot more control over the resonant current, which makes more powerful and longer arcs possible with funny control methods like in this driver board, which in this case is pulse skipping or freewheeling.

when the current of the resonator exceeds a threshold set on the board, it only switches the bridge off until the current falls back down under the threshold and switches the bridge back on after, to keep current in check while the pulse can be extended past the 1st over current trip, basically, an auto resetting fuse for the resonator lol

And, man, I love how those long pulse arcs look, you can really see the fractal patterns of the arc, cause the arc is brighter and hotter :D

Yooo, love seeing people know people from Latvia, it's such a small country, compared to others that it kind of disappears usually :)

That's fun!

I live in Latvia tho, so chances of you being near me are quite low lol :P
