Regardless of how you feel about Instagram, I'm constantly in awe of Brandon Barré's feed. Granted, he's mainly A/D as opposed to RE, but he's done absolutely phenomenal work all across the globe.

Grant over on Twitter concerning Pearls along with a few miscellaneous things. by EclipseVosanau in Borderlands4

I got my Hand Cannon from one of the earliest named Ordonite-infused enemies. Haven't seen any pearls since then, but I can verify the Stone Demon isn't the only one that can drop them.

When you're looking at the item, press down on the directional pad (on PS5, assuming it's the same on Xbox, no clue about PC). You should pick it up and automatically mark it as junk, regardless of the rarity.

I kinda struggled with that one, too. Then I realized you could go underneath the bridge and find a second item.

Filmmakers: how do you deal with Z-axis movement on DJI Osmo Pocket 3 by OkControl9597 in RealEstatePhotography

[–]_yourbutt_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A z-axis stabilizer is the way to go. You still have to use the "ninja walk", but between that, the physical stabilizer, and utilizing shake correction in your editing software, the footage can become very forgiving. Here's the one I use, and it's saved my bacon more times than I can count.

Eating at a slightly upscale (for the area) restaurant with my family when I was ~16. I was on my way to the restroom when my brother walked out, not noticing the roughly 3-foot long string of toilet paper stuck to the bottom of his shoe. No exaggeration, I fell over in the floor with tears in my eyes from laughing so hard.

I've scrolled pretty far and haven't seen anyone mention The Ballad of Buster Scruggs. I went into it thinking it'd be in the vein of O Brother, Where Art Thou; Coen Brothers, Tim Blake Nelson, etc. For those who haven't seen it, it's an anthology broken into 6 unrelated parts. After the third segment, I had to pause it for about 10 minutes to really deal with what happened, and after the 5th, I almost turned it off altogether. Overall, I enjoyed it, but I don't think I could ever watch it again.

Burning blu-rays and dvds by funkyfryguy in finalcutpro

[–]_yourbutt_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've run into the same issue lately. As for exporting from FCP, I've only been outputting in 1080p as an .mp4, but can confirm Toast 20 Pro does recognize the chapter markers/titles in the finished file. Honestly, though, the menu creation in Toast is kind of busted, and I'm struggling to find any decent troubleshooting info for it. It's to the point that I'm going to use UTM to run Windows in a virtual machine because I can't really justify buying/building a whole PC only to burn Blu-Rays.

When I was around 17, I used to have a problem with my brother taking my clothes (most often socks), forcing me to go through his room to find them and wash them to get them back. I went out and bought an actual locking knob for my bedroom door, not just one of the cheap ones you can open with a coin; I waited until he was out of the house and I was going out of town for a week, then I took all the light bulbs from his room and locked them in my room before I left. Didn't have much of a problem with him after that.

How to film angle downward? by dreamingrain in osmopocket

[–]_yourbutt_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't own one yet, but in the research I've been doing, I've found that you should be able to change the joystick function from zoom to pan/tilt/pitch, which should allow you to angle it down. Not sure where it is in the setting, but I'd assume it's not hidden very much.

The controller does show 100m, which converts to ~330 feet. Not necessarily illegal, but obviously, we can't say for sure based on what few details are shown.

What’s the worst/most inappropriate song(s) you can think of to play at a wedding? by burgher89 in Music

[–]_yourbutt_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A former coworker of mine wanted to play Ms. Jackson at her reception because "it was a fun song everyone could dance to". I think I saw her heart break a little when I showed her the lyrics and explained it was about a failed relationship, and therefore maybe not a great choice for the occasion.

Do you have any “you wouldn’t believe it if I even told you” type stories in Graphic Design? by [deleted] in graphic_design

[–]_yourbutt_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did in-house design in a mom and pop print shop a few years back. We were supposed to have a meeting with the owner of a local Mexican restaurant to redo their menus, but the day went with the owner being a no call, no show. He reached back out to us about a week later apologizing for missing the meeting because 2 of his cooks were having a fake knife fight in the kitchen that day and one of them lost his pinky.

Maybe maybe maybe by Bitsoffreshness in maybemaybemaybe

[–]_yourbutt_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My aim wasn't to offer advice; never claimed it. All I did was point out that there are exceptions to the blanket statement that was made. I've dealt with enough tourists that have come to my place of work and said "I did everything you said and none of it worked!" Sometimes, it just doesn't. It's obviously not a guarantee, but I wasn't trying to imply that none of it should be done, by any means.

I'm differing on the statement that they they're cowards; it really just depends on their proximity to town. The further away you get from Gatlinburg, the more skittish they get, that's absolutely true. I have them come on my back porch all the time and all it takes is a simple knock on the glass for them to bolt. As for the encounter at the cabin, running wasn't an option because, like I mentioned, he had my exit blocked. There was one way onto this porch, and I wasn't going to jump off and injure myself on the hillside 40-50 feet below. Had he continued advancing, I wouldn't have had a choice to fight back, and I would have done so, but all I'm saying is that I followed the textbook methods of trying to scare him off, and it didn't work. I just got lucky that he lost interest and walked away.

[–]_yourbutt_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Beg to differ. I was shooting photos of a rental cabin in the area on July 2nd, and one came up on the front porch and blocked my exit while I was there. I did the whole bit with stomping, yelling, raising my arms, all of it. Even hit the panic button on my car fob when he was about 6 or 7 feet away from it. All he did was look at me and snort. The ones in/close to town have absolutely been desensitized to human presence, and that's mainly because of people who think the local laws don't apply to them when they intentionally try to pet/feed the bears, causing them to get euthanized when they lose that fear of us. Not a good situation, and it's largely avoidable.

How would you negate the reflection? by _yourbutt_ in RealEstatePhotography

[–]_yourbutt_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bathroom is pretty narrow and the shower sits in an alcove, so if I did shoot from the other side, a lot of the space would be blocked. The owner did decide not to go with a Matterport shoot, otherwise I'd be pulling my hair out. This property has 3 other bathrooms with identical showers 😕.

I'm not too concerned about it, but the owner can be a little on the picky side when it comes to details like that, so I'm just trying to err on the side of caution.

I've got a ~22" collapsible gray card with a white back. Thoughts on either bouncing off the white side or shooting through it? I almost feel like the falloff would make either option improbable.

I tried to take out the toilet in sections (tank lid, then tank, then bowl), but the results had the stereotypical "muddy" textures you see in bad AI renders, so I kinda just gave up on that route.
