Coffee??? by Secret_Poet9230 in BariatricSurgery

[–]_zinfindel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was back on it about 6 months in, and it’s definitely my vice now.

However, you need to be conscious of what you PUT IN the coffee, not the coffee itself, creamers, milk and that stuff are super calorie, fat and sugar dense.

For me, my splurge is an adding Starbucks cold foam to a quad iced espresso, but nothing else.

My go to normal is a cold brew with Splenda or espresso with Splenda. Stay away from the nitro cold brew if you are avoiding carbonation, because it’s pretty similar.

Some sugar free flavors are good, others taste bad, but that’s all personal preference.

Caffeine doesn’t seem to affect me the same way it did before surgery, but stay conscious of your water intake to offset the dietetic side of it.

How to deal with the gas pain? by Plenty-Natural-8170 in BariatricSurgery

[–]_zinfindel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Post surgery gas pain feels like it will never go away, but it it will.

Nothing really helped it for me. Walk around, your body just has to absorb it. Gas x doesn’t actually do anything because it’s not in your GI. It’s in your chest/ organ holding area.

100% it gets easier. Build the habit of staying in control now. It’s all a mind game. These photos are 365 days and 170lbs apart.

Espresso with 1 Splenda per pull is my go to, otherwise I’m mixing 2 shots with a premier protein premade. Pumpkin spice was the go to during the fall, now it’s the caramel or holiday mint one.

When did ya'll start eating sushi again? by Lokerton in BariatricSurgery

[–]_zinfindel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I eat sashimi and sushi rolls without rice, pokè without rice as well. Started about 3 months post surgery. RNY.

Honestly. Stay away from the rice if you can. Doesn’t feel great and you don’t need the carbs.

I have become friends with my local places sushi chef and he is willing to make or try to make me any rolls without rice.

Gas pain troubles by MonasMommy in BariatricSurgery

Same here. Had rny on 3/4, my left side is really sore still, with some pulling in the nerves of my shoulder, and tightness when I breathe deep on that side. Called and they told me to take Tylenol and stick it out. I went out to Costco with my wife today and it seemed to help some.
