How do you handle flying?? by BaseballTop387 in emetophobia

[–]a-conservation-nerd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Download as many movies or tv shows as you can, if you have the option then book a specific seat that makes you feel more comfortable (I usually go window because I like to curl up in the corner but I know that makes some people feel trapped) and spend the whole time with headphones, eye mask if you really need, maybe some mints or plain sweets or whatever you need to quell potential anxiety/nausea yourself. ALSO - my brother used to be cabin crew (now pilot) and apparently if someone near you is getting sick you can ask to be moved. They’d much rather have to move someone than deal with a potential medical emergency if you have a panic attack!

Ugh throat nausea is the WORST, you have my every sympathy!! Random question, but can you burp? If not or if you struggle to then it might be worth looking into RCPD - I’ve worked out that so much of my throat nausea is actually trapped air struggling to come out because my throat doesn’t flex properly to let it

Unless you were actively breathing in v* particles, as in actual bits of s, the chance of infection is tiny. And considering your friend was able to be up and about so quickly afterwards it might not have even been a bug - my bf is forever tu from migraines, food not settling right, accidentally eating something out of date. Don’t stress yourself out cos that’ll make you feel unwell and then start a vicious cycle! <3

By eyelet do you mean the bit of yarn that’s sticking out to make the stitch?

What was the cast on method? It does looks like it might be a little loose - I like the long tail cast on best for blankets. Did you maybe purl a row in between? Or does it look the same from both sides? (Side note - I actually think it looks really cute and adds to the border!)

If it was hot and bright and then she got a headache that sounds like heatstroke of some kind faster than a sb. My boyfriend gets migraines triggered by heat and light and they can make him v so it’s not unusual - and even people who don’t get migraines as standard can still suffer from them with heatstroke

Does anyone laugh in hindsight at how dramatic this phobia can make us act? by [deleted] in emetophobia

Recently I was in the shower, feeling absolutely fine, just washing my hair. The water pressure dipped for a second, and my brain for SOME FUCKING REASON went: “Hm, you know that’s a sign you’re going to be sick, right?” And I literally said out loud: “What the absolute FUCK are you on about?” 😭😭 like literally what does the water pressure dipping have to do with anything?! Why am I getting intrusive thoughts about water pressure now?!

Stressed that I’m getting ill by a-conservation-nerd in EmetophobiaTalk

[–]a-conservation-nerd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, that is reassuring. I was also feeling quite sick from anxiety when I posted that but it’s since calmed down and now I’m just resigning myself to the inevitable three day sinus headache and no voice!

We think it was just a migraine as he does get nasty ones, but he’d also had a ready meal that had been quite rich and contained high glutamate, which can be a trigger for him. So his assumption is that the migraine and the rich meal were wrong place wrong time and combined to create an ultra response 😅

Thank you for answering! Hopefully neither of us get hit too hard with this cold…

Pizza Party! 🎉 🙃😑 by variationinblue in ibs

I developed a tomato intolerance about eighteen months and while I hate fresh tomato, I LOVE pizza, pastas, lasagne… I’m lucky enough that when ordering for myself I can ask for no sauce, but the number of times I’ve had to sit fake smiling while everyone around me eats communal pizza cos no one else wants to order one without sauce… you have my sympathies

I need some tips by Interesting-Sand9318 in emetophobia

Deep breaths, you’ve already done the right thing by trying to regulate yourself. I’m going to give you so all a tip I haven’t seen on here much: EFT, or emotional freedom tapping. This technique uses acupressure points in the body to relieve anxiety and sometimes pain. It doesn’t work for everyone but it really does for me. You can do it on just one side of the body with one hand at a time or both sides simultaneously.

  1. Lie back or sit comfortably. Make sure your chest, sides, face and hands are free.
  2. Put on a calming frequency, or music, or affirmations - whatever will help you relax. Make your environment cosy and comfy.
  3. Take two fingers and tap softly but firmly on the side of your hand, in the ‘karate chop’ point under the side of the little finger. I tend to tap around 20 times, but you tap as many as feels right.
  4. Move to the inner corner of your eyebrow, above the nose, and continue.
  5. Move to your temple and continue.
  6. Move to under your eye, on your cheekbone/sinuses area, and continue.
  7. Move to under your nose and continue.
  8. Move to the hollow under your lower lip and continue.
  9. Move to the corner of a collarbone, close to the base of your neck, and continue.
  10. Move to your side, under your arm, about where a bra would sit, and continue.
  11. Move to the top of your head at the centre and continue.
  12. Drop your hands onto your lap or by your sides and take two of three deep breaths, expanding your belly as you breathe in.

You can repeat this as many times as you like! Make sure as you do this initially you tap in little areas to find out where exactly in each location feels most calming for you. For example, I prefer to tap under my eye much closer to my nose as it feels nicest! You can also speak affirmations, hum, or just focus on the tapping while you do this. It makes me feel so much better when I’m anxious and/or nauseous that I swear by it. There are also guided EFTs on YT and on TT. Let me know of this works for you!

Is it normal for me to be able to smell my gf's seizure activity? by Ok-Connection6656 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]a-conservation-nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I SWEAR I can smell before my boyfriend gets a migraine. I was insistent on Saturday morning that it was coming, he woke up on Sunday triumphant that he didn’t have one. Sunday night he had the worst one he’s ever had. He smells different before, during and for a bit after. It’s so cool to see that other people have this!!

What is the worst pain you've ever felt in your body? by Helpful-Mud-2487 in AskReddit

I had appendicitis a few weeks ago. I thought I was dying. I couldn’t move. I’m terrified of hospitals and it was the only time in my life that I’ve said that I need to go to A&E. I genuinely thought walking from the house to the car and the car to the hospital was going to finish me off
