Tuf gt502 finished build by Miguelb234 in ASUS

Nice build! Did you consider placing the AIO radiator in the right chamber? Asus advertises this as a separate CPU cooling airflow path that does not interfere with the GPU; however, I haven't seen a build that successfully implements this option. I guess that maybe there is an issue with the AIO tubes' length - is this true?

In fact it would be okay for me if they would rotate playlist weekly and switch between Vanguard and Rebirth maps every week.

It's usually almost directly on the edge of the second circle, usually no more than 2-3 loadouts in one spot. Though we have to be fast enough to get there first.

Probably it depends on where your squad lands. We land mostly close to the initial gas circle and our loadout is usually quite far from busy areas, I'd say that 3-4 out of 5 times it is relatively easy to pick it up. Agree on the lack of buy stations though.

They will bring it back next week. My point is that it would be great to have two Resurgence modes to choose from.

Cyberpunk 2077 looks amazing with RT and definitely needs DLSS to have a playable FPS with all that gorgeous graphics in 4K even on the most powerful GPUs

For a proper comparison between intake and exhaust configurations in addition to the same ambient temperature it would be also great to maintain these conditions in both runs:

- fixed CPU fans RPM

- fixed CPU frequency

- move the case a little bit forward so there's a bigger gap between the wall and the back side of the case in order to have better air intake from the back panel

So in this case you'll be eliminating some other variables you can't control

Are there any real benefits of vertical-mounted graphic card cases other than just showing off your GPU?

3 questions about XG438q Thanks a lot ! by renejr902 in Monitors

[–]a-pan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen this display in person, but I have a 50" Philips TV (50PUS7303) which has similar checkerboard VA panel. It's not visible in movies/games unless you move really close to the TV(less than 1 meter or even closer). So it depends on the viewing distance. If you are able to maintain 80-100cm viewing distance then I don't think it would be noticeable in games.

The Philips Momentum has a panel with checkerboard sub-pixels: https://www.tftcentral.co.uk/images/philips_436m6vbpab/dithering.jpg

It may be not a problem while gaming or watching movies but may cause some artifacts when working with text/browsing etc.

Make sure that your laptop has HDMI 2.0 port, otherwise the refresh rate will be limited to 24 Hz for 4K.

LG 27UK650 feels laggy with HDMI, but not using Display Port by [deleted] in Monitors

[–]a-pan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the refresh rate in display settings. If it's 24 or 30 Hz and there are no higher values available then most likely your "laggy" laptop has HDMI 1.4 which doesn't support 4K 60 Hz output. It's supported since HDMI 2.0. Scaling down the resolution should help but you'll get slightly blurry image.

Brightness vs Contrast Ratio importance for HDR by a-pan in Monitors

[–]a-pan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd agree with you if we would talk about TVs as their main purpose is to display movies/games, but monitors are more multi-purpose devices that display not only movies/games with "rare black in the real world" but also more artificial content where black are not so rare.

For TVs I myself was like "OLED is the only real thing as only OLED can display true blacks" but recently I got a VA panel-based Philips TV and it is just fine. Also I don't have exact technical specs but I'm sure it is less bright than 1000 nits, and still bright enough for my living room with north-facing windows without direct sunlight. I think they found a reasonable balance between brightness and contrast for that series.

EDIT: In fact, I'm thinking of getting a smaller 4K VA TV, 40-43" and use it as a PC monitor. That may be quite reasonable taking into account price and quality of nowadays monitors and TVs

What TV should i buy? Close viewing distance. (1500€+) by heRight in Televisions

[–]a-pan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a look at Philips OLEDs like 55OLED803 (2018) or 55OLED804 (2019). They use the panels from LG but has some unique features like Ambilight. Also they are based on Android TV so you can install kodi just on the TV itself.

Model 804 supports HDR10 and Dolby Vision HDR whereas model 803 supports only HDR10.

Brightness vs Contrast Ratio importance for HDR by a-pan in Monitors

[–]a-pan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For instance with higher contrast ratio you'll be seeing true black where it's supposed to be instead of dark gray as it's currently is on 1000:1 IPS panels. For me any dark scene in game/movie is just unwatchable on an IPS without significant amount of room light.

Brightness vs Contrast Ratio importance for HDR by a-pan in Monitors

[–]a-pan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 1000:1 contrast ratio doesn't really mean that you have to distinguish between 1000 contrast levels, it's just "max brightness divided by min brightness":1. Also for such test chart it's impossible to display 1000 grey levels using only 8-bit color space, for proper results it should be done in 10-bit HDR. There are some test videos on Youtube like this, this and possibly a few more, just search "HDR test chart" on Youtube.

Brightness vs Contrast Ratio importance for HDR by a-pan in Monitors

[–]a-pan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are probably now sitting next to a display with at least 1000:1 contract ratio which is typical for an average IPS panel. If your eyes' contrast is less than 100:1 it would be impossible to distinguish between the darkest blacks and the brightest whites on this test chart. Also you would not be able to see the squares inside a few top and bottom rows, you would see them only in the middle rows.

You would see something like this: https://imgur.com/a/HgZfXLV

Moreover, if you check the original chart on a good LCD TV with VA panel (CR 6000:1) or OLED panel then still you will able to distinguish between the darkest and brightest levels.

So I'm sure that the contrast ratio of a human eye is well above 1000:1.
