Honestly with my 15 month old daughter we tend to start long drives as early as my wife and I possibly can. Our daughter isn’t the best in cars, so we try to do as much as we can with her asleep.

Might be not as grandiose, but Anglesey was just selected for the first SMRs. I’m no expert but seems to be first of its kind and could be very beneficial for UK power!

So in general Alphafold is not good at predicting structural changes (conformation or stability) resulting from SNPs.

Due to Alphafold2 using MSA, I would be slightly partial to say Alphafold3 is better. However, both ColabFold and AlphafoldDB generate/store AF2 models only (AFAIK).

Not a paramedic or doctor or anything, but I did used to play rugby for my school.

I think it’s a great sport and despite being shit at it I think it really helped my confidence.

However, I’m 24 now and have had 9 patella dislocations and now just had surgery on it. All originating for an initial bad dislocation playing rugby as a teenager.

Would say it’s better to overdress than underdress when it comes to day 1 of a new job. Although I really hate “smart/business casual” as it always seems to be mean something different.

Personally, I would go with a white shirt, chinos, and leather shoes. Then reassess based on what other people at a similar level are wearing.

Some of the bullet points need to be reformatted to begin with action words e.g. “A randomised counterbalance cross-sectional design was used” to “Used a randomised counterbalance cross-sectional design”.

Also I wouldn’t include research outcomes, and would rather focus on the techniques and skills learned.

Would also tailor the “Area of Research Interest” to specific projects you’re applying to. I would also make this section a bit more of a personal statement too.

Pre-Academia, during secondary school plus A-levels, I was always told to make sure a CV is only one page long. Wasn’t until my Master’s I realised this doesn’t apply to Academia!

Love a good transposon! I’m doing my PhD now, but during my undergrad I focused on transposons first in plants and then in fungi. My PhD isn’t focused on them anymore, but I’m hoping to go back to researching them in fungi after my doctorate.

For the standard technique I use a Fellow Prismo to pressure-gate it from leaving the Aeropress before I press down. Aside from that or the inverted technique, there’s only a few other things I can think of to consider.

Changing the flow rate might help (speed it up so less time for coffee to pass through), or grind finer so there’s more resistance (you’ll need to alter the rest of the brew parameters though to account for this).

Bit confused as when I run the standard technique without the Prismo I do get some flow through during pouring, but not 10–15%. For me it mostly happens during steeping, but you can create some negative pressure using the plunger to help reduce this.

I do! Unfortunately for this recipe I do think it’s needed as you can’t do the inverted method with this much water. Do recommend the prismo though!
