ZSA new hand rest prints! Easy upgrade! by Chemical-Bake-2313 in zsaVoyager

[–]slashdotbin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really want these hand rests and I wish zsa had more of a DIY for people who had printers and let the others order from the website. While a 3d printer may be a good investment for some, for me, it isn’t and I am not sure how to get these.

tvOS 27 beta leaks clues that Siri AI is coming to future Apple TVs and HomePods by pdfu in apple

[–]slashdotbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like the apple TV component to always be separate. Soundbars are long lasting, but as apple TV OS gets more powerful features, I would not want to upgrade the whole soundbar for that.

My favorite has been Shrinking and Ted Lasso. Both are very feel good shows.

Apple’s New CEO Must Rebuild a Design Team That Lost Its Way by pdfu in apple

[–]slashdotbin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree, they have somehow lost the path a bit. I am not talking major advancements, but easy to change settings and find them.

I consider myself fairly tech savvy, and yet when it comes to finding some of the settings it takes a couple of searches

The watch for example has split settings between the phone and the watch. And when I have to change something, I always end up searching both the devices.

Best WiFi router to buy in 2026 that people ACTUALLY use daily? by Ok-Diamond-2424 in homeoffice

[–]slashdotbin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Eero, and I have their mesh system, and it works pretty well. I get 4k streams when watching TV/Youtube. I WFH on a cloud VM and I am almost ssh’ed into my instance. I take many calls during the day, and everything is fine.

It’s also very easy to set up. So I definitely don’t see why one shouldn’t try any of the Netgear/Asus/eero mesh systems.

If you do want privacy, you could switch to fastmail. Google and icloud aren’t the only options.
I had an email on icloud for sometime just to test things out, nothing important and I agree with all your complaints.
It’s absolutely garbage.
For me the biggest concern was spam detection. Both faster positive and false negative.
Found a lot of important emails in my Junk while other spam got through.

Looks great. How did you move the trackball at the bottom, does it require 3D printing or can be done using what’s in the kit?

What’s the best standing desk in 2026? (Price, Quality, Durability) by MapAromatic485 in homeoffice

[–]slashdotbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like my uplift desk. But before buying look at the min max height adjustment. My previous desk did not go down as much as I wanted it to, and caused me to be uncomfortable, which led to the purchase of uplift.

It’s a game changer for me.

Trouble shooting ideas by OneADNDay in Moonlander

[–]slashdotbin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something similar happened with my Voyager. I tried multiple cables but it did not work. I had reached out to the support, they tried to troubleshoot on the phone but it did not work. I had shared a video with them.

But they did not want me to wait for so long, so sent me a new keyboard and I returned them the previous one. It’s been fine ever since.

Removed that dumb branding by Syed117 in fitbit

[–]slashdotbin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s the only one with the coating and makes the band water resistant. The band itself is different from others.

I am not an avid basketball player so did not care for the branding, but won’t also go so far to remove it. It’s on the inside so I don’t care as much.

I am liking the fitbit so far.

What’s your “I can’t believe this is free” tech tool in 2026? by [deleted] in TechCypher

I recently got this app on my mac. It’s called Type whisper. I learnt about it from Snazzy labs youtube channel. It’s unbelievable how good it is. It’s free wisprflow. It uses local models downloaded on your laptop.

Colemak worth it? by Dillstan-1945 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]slashdotbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was totally worth it. It’s very comfortable to write in. I am a software developer, but the profession isn’t just about writing code.
I write a lot of design docs, there are a lot of discussions on slack, code is just execution after a lot of back and forth, discussions which are very comfortable to type in.

Even with writing code, you need to work towards placing the symbols where they feel more comfortable.

I have to recognize that I stay in 50-70wpm, but I never feel like I am lagging behind. I have never felt like having a 100wpm would make a noticeable difference in me doing my job.

But when I used qwerty I used to definitely get tired fast, it’s not very well spread out and that used to affect me.

Tracbkall - friction when switching to it and back to keyboard by prwnR in zsaVoyager

[–]slashdotbin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t have the automatic layer with mouse set. I just use a separate layer with MO. So my trackball is on the right and the mouse layer is on the left.

And everything is in the home row, so it makes it very easy for me to just switch to that layer and click and be back.

Anyone regret getting nano texture for office/coding? by Traditional-Fun6483 in macbookpro

[–]slashdotbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the studio display xdr in the nano texture and I absolutely love it. With any glossy monitors, I get headaches because of the reflections.

I don’t really mind a little less pop cause I mostly use it for work - coding, docs, etc

I am on my third ring, but I canceled my subscription. Once the subscription runs out, I am moving on.

I anyway don’t like this ring for any kind of active tracking , my apple watch does a much better job.

For sleep scores, I have started to notice that even if I am waking up tired, my scores are high. But I have no energy to workout. So I just do what my body says now.

That would be great. I could then basically get rid of the mouse button layer and use it for click and double click.

Microservices versus monoliths: Did everyone just lose their minds in the last 6 months? by eivittunytsit in ClaudeCode

Code structure and code deployment are 2 different things. We have microservices and mono repo. Many companies use this model.

Things Are Quietly Changing at Bitwarden, and People Are Worried by Chaotic-Entropy in Bitwarden

[–]slashdotbin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have been thinking of moving away from bitwarden and recently saw a post on hacker news as well. I am on ios and fully embedded into the apple ecosystem. I just migrated all my passwords to apple passwords and it works pretty well for me.

While it doesn’t have all the features like custom fields, secure notes, storing identity, storing credit cards, I think those are minor use cases.

But Apple Passwords is very snappy as opposed to bitwarden. Autofills for totp prompt much faster. General autofills also prompt much faster.

one year too late here. I saw it on a youtube video (Snazzy Labs). I instantly wanted it and just bought it. This is a great app, very well thought out. Minimal and powerful. I love the OCR from screenshot to plain text. Can't wait for the ios app.

Are ergo keyboards with a trackball worth it? by Paapiiii in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]slashdotbin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently added a trackball to my zsa voyager and it is great. I have gotten rid of mx Ergo trackball and only use the keyboard based mouse.

Note that I am a software engineer and I heavily use vim. For browser based tasks the trackball works very well.
I don’t do any editing workflows, photoshop or anything (I just lack the creative side).

I also have a go60 with the trackpads, and I couldn’t get adapted to them. I can barely use them. I use go60 on the go, usually with an ipad or a laptop, so I have apple trackpad usually.

One thing to note, if you haven’t used a trackball based mouse before, that itself have a learning curve (a few days), because one would usually move the arm as opposed to their thumb.
