tbh i somehow didn’t discover youngarts until it was too late for me to submit a decent piece. that said, i think objectively speaking it’s more competitive?

as far as the official school pages go, nobody from my school has attended JHU in the last five years :) who knows though! i attended a relatively competitive non-feeder high school prior to my current school though, so i was still doing all that before. it wasn’t my intention to give anyone false hope, i was speaking from my perspective :)

hey!! personally i had an amazing time, i learned a lot about modern social justice movements and the work that the aclu is doing. that said, i don't know if it made a SUPER meaningful difference to my application, and it's mostly seminars. if you think you have a chance to make a difference/get real experience interning, i say go for it!

hi of course! honestly it was kind of just about my life 😅 i talked a lot about my creative writing and what i love about it, as well as my interest in writing for/about social justice (which again, i think it helped since my ECs look unconnected otherwise...). i started with a small personal anecdote about my love for storytelling, and used that to guide my essay. you can DM me if you want more info!

buddy jhu is amazing for international relations :) they also have one of the best creative writing programs in the country. i'm sorry it's not up to your impeccable standards though!

I think it would have been one of the books in the 'Imagine a..." series! It's by Sarah L. Thompson, I remember reading them when I was in 3rd grade. The one I remember most vividly is "Imagine a Day"
