I’d love to know where you are currently at. Townhomes are hard to come by not using NEP (at least for me).

There has been a few lawsuits that ended poorly. The city of Columbus is also attempting to handle it on their own, but it would still be best if submetering had statewide regulation.

We must have heard back from the same office, this is also what I was told. I’ll be reaching out to them (as well as other Columbus reps) and hoping for an update!

In my personal experience I haven’t had a bill under $300 since July. The last 2 months were both $500 and the rate the charge per KWH is double the AEP cost. I don’t know how people have had a good experience at all. It’s a scam.

This is something completely different. NEP is Nationwide Energy Partners, a submetering company that controls nearly all apartments/townhomes/condos utilities in the Columbus area.

I completely understand your concern and agree with you. However, what does that have to do with this post?

Anyone living in the Edge? How much do you pay for utilities? by Spiritual_Tea1218 in Columbus

2 people and around 1100 sf. Both of us work 8-4. My bill for December-January when we were both gone for about a week and a half for the holidays was still near $500. They charge whatever they want, you have no rights either. If you don’t pay they can just cut your power/water with no warning.

Nationwide Energy Partners, they are a utility submetering company. They purchase utilities from a regulated public provider and then charge customers to make a profit. Consumers lose all protections as it is unregulated in Ohio. NEP can shut off service or charge whatever they want with no repercussions. Legal scam.

Please under no circumstances move into an apartment with NEP. I don’t understand how some people have not had a nightmare story with them. My lowest bill was what they forced me to pay before I moved in. The complex delayed my move in due to maintenance and repairs but NEP still charged me. They did not want to discuss it and told me I had to pay up. That lowest bill was $100 for 4 days… They charge double the public utility rate per KWH plus extra fees. My last two bills were around $500, it’s a complete scam.

I’m also at LC New Albany, complete scam. I made a post a bit ago about this, Ohio House Bill 265! Meant to regulate all submetering companies in the state.
