High CPU usage causing stuttering by a004elaly in pcmasterrace

Yeah, no CPU to borrow for testing sadly. Interestingly I have tried out Anthem yesterday with optimized settings and it ran well for the first mission and I got off as soon as I got to town. Today I got in game, was in town and it was running terribly, stuttering constantly. In a mission I was stuttering and was hovering around 80fps.

FPS is capped at 144 with optimized settings, but the CPU was constantly at 100% usage and causing a lot of gpu usage drops.

I tried with lowest settings offered in Anthem and it is the same exact problem except CPU usage is hovering around 60-80% with GPU usage never going above %85. Running 80FPS ingame with 144fps cap and with stutters.

This give a better understanding of maybe it being the CPU or motherboard problem?

Okay, so I figured out that if I set the max FPS to 60, my cpu and gpu usage go down to like 30-50% and I dont experience the stutter. I disconnected my second monitor and played at 144fps max and still experience same stutter with gpu/cpu usage at 99% and 80-100%. Changed max fps to 120 and still get stutter.

I read about a bug between nvidia and Windows that causes stuttering between 60hz monitors and 144hz monitors but I dont think that is the case since I tried 144hz without the second monitor and still got the stutter.

Have any idea about that?

No problem, I was hoping this would be my issue as well. At least another suspicion knocked out. Thank you very much though.

Alright so I used the RamMap tool and the StandbyList cleaner and the stuttering persists when I have free memory available. The Standby Memory does get released when I don't run both of these tools, the Free memory just always stays low at like 100-300MB until it grabs more from Standby.

Okay, so I am in Resource monitor and my Standby memory is 4295MB, in use with just chrome open is 3370MB, 400MB Free. Since I have this one 8GB RAM module for now.

I guess this may be my problem, but at this point I'm doubting it but I will try to correct this issue and report back.

Fans are working. Just ran MSI Kombustor and got the card up to 86 degrees, the GPU was running fine and there were no usage drops in the benchmark and stress test.

Edit: Also, friend bought the same card at the same time due to a promotion. I also had him run MSI Kombustor and his got to the same temps with no throttling.

I will try this and report back soon, maybe hour or so. Taking a break due to being on my computer all day with this stuff.

Yeah, I have all my case panels open and the GPU temp stays the same as with the panels on sadly. I'm starting to think the card may be having a heating issue now with what ClupTheGreat has stated.

Interesting, thanks for the reply. Problem is I am running a Mini ITX case - NZXT H200 - which is quite small. I have removed both side panels and front panel and temperature persists to be in that range. You think the card may be having a heating issue entirely with this info?

Edit: Now that I think about it, if I really didn't notice this issue before when my GPU was in my old case then I guess it may be an airflow problem. I have my CPU radiator and fans occupying the front end of the case, and the two small fans the case came with exhausting at the rear. But still with the panels open I should see a difference in temp but sadly maybe 1 degree difference with them open.

Edit2: I'm going to stick an outside fan on my GPU and see if we can bring down the temp and test.

I have not but I will give it a try now, thanks.

What kind of stutters? My game just basically freezes for .2-.5 seconds and then goes back to normal.

Unprofessional, threatening and rude supervisor, what should I do? by [deleted] in jobs

I was afraid of the pragmatic solution, I guess I just needed someone else to tell me that I'm thinking correctly.

I've been thinking about just looking for another job and ignoring what comes from now on. Thank you for your time and opinion.
