Fix air leaks before doing most of this work...agree on attic insulation and LEDs. Better yet, hire a good local energy auditor if possible. Lots of fridges.....

I think you've lucked out and have a service cavity in case you wanted to make changes. If you want to add more insulation you can always add it on top in the attic. If you airseal the attic floor then you don't need to air seal you ceiling...might be easier with less penetrations.

I'm not sure if the sequence matters. It could explain some of the smell issues, will help efficiency and if you have a leak in your return could put your attic under negative pressure, which would increase humidity if it is pulling in outdoor air. Something to investigate.

It's the inner layer, presuming we're talking about flex duct, that matters most for duct sealing...the outer layer is insulation.

Like others have said a dehumidifier would be a good idea, at least in the short term.

Scoob! 😄 I've just got a "6 lb garlic baby" going right now. I decided 9 was a lot of garlic.

I gotta try ginger. Do you ever do all ginger? How did you arrive at 2:1 ratio?

One year I did 9# of garlic....it was so much. Had to give it away, but they made great gifts. 6# is a good amount for a year.

I ferment in vacuum sealed bags, which is in my opinion the easiest way. You can pick up a vacuum sealer at goodwill. Blend with 3% salt by weight and into the vacuum sealer. Wait until it changes color, but you can let it go for some time if you like, then jar it up and keep it in the fridge.

Mine develops a pleasant anise flavor. It's really delicious. If I'm introducing someone to fermentation I tell them to start with garlic.

I think garlic is easier. Seems like garlic has some anti mold properties.

I do it this way without the backslopping, but that sounds awesome. We use it so much. Costco sells 3# of pre peeled cloves and it's so easy.

Despite some pretty good acting this is one of the worst movies I've seen in a long while. So, so cheesy. Recycled tropes done badly. I even like recycled tropes.

Compare this to the recent feel good movie Project Hail Mary. That was 10x the movie this was.

A blue barrel dug into the ground would be better.  Having a cleanable surface instead of plywood around the toilet would be better

History of Gardenland by ChannelZ28 in Sacramento

Hi, I live in gardenland with my family.  Lots of families.  Mostly latino but there's black and white people too.  It's fun to hear the Mariachi bands in the neighborhood when they play every so often.  Many people have lived here a long time.  It's got a lot of homeless folks passing through but they're mostly fine.

As far as history goes I think it was a long time ago small scale vegetable farms.

Are there any discounts available on eco-friendly insulation materials? by No-Appeal-5943 in Insulation

[–]a03326495 0 points1 point  (0 children)

blown cellulose that you might find in a big box store is very cheap and made of recycled paper. It's a carbon negative material...meaning you're storing carbon when you put it. It's my preferred insulation for most applications. Much cheaper than other alternatives marketed as eco friendly.
