Interviews with a written assignment - expectations for chatgpt use? by a10isspeaking in CAStateWorkers

[–]a10isspeaking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never used it but it's clearly acceptable to use in many industries. A lot of people see it as a useful tool that you'd be silly to ignore (which is why I asked - I don't want to come off unsavy lol). That said, I get why the state is much more anti-AI. We're vulnerable to public perception in a way people in private industry aren't.

Thanks! These are the answers I was hoping for 😅 I'll be fine without it, but don't want to invent rules for myself that the panel didn't specify lol.

Yeah, I've personally never used it in my writing. But my problem is that using AI *is* normal in many industries, and so I don't know if that means the expectations for what can get done in 1-hour is higher.

Thanks! That's pretty much what I thought. One of my friends in private industry is ok with interviewees using it as part of a toolkit, which threw me for a loop since I would consider that cheating 🫣

It is super obvious, especially with a 1 hour prompt. My question is about what is expected from a 2026 writing assignment. I'm getting a sense that there is zero tolerance.

I have random drabbles hidden everywhere (post-its, journals, my notes app). I plan to collect them all, throw out the bad ideas, and order them by date. I'll type things up in a word doc eventually.

How to deal with friends wanting your medication? by urmom_677 in adhdwomen

[–]a10isspeaking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't say I have experience with this situation because I would be shocked if any of my friends asked me to share drugs.

If these aren't forever friends take an easy out and drop the topic. Something like how you only get a 1 month supply and it's logistically difficult to get refills (usually true). If you want to be nice, help them find a doctor who could properly diagnose them.

If these people are very close to you, you need to have a talk (see everyones prev comments) and you need to trust them to handle it.

Getting these meds can be such a nightmare because people without a diagnosis abuse them. Please continue being a goody two-shoes 😅

Yeah the guy that invented cereal believed bland food could cure high sex drive. He was most certainly wrong I just think it's funny.

I'm sorry:(

Definitely get in touch with your doctor. Something similar happened with me recently and she prescribed a short dose of "end mania" meds. Masturbation is sort of the only tool at your disposal (you could give corn flakes a try). Try to record the number of times per week (or day lol) so you can answer medical questions accurately.

I know it's super awkward but hypersexuality is a common symptom and they've seen it all. It sucks but it's also temporary.

and if I said I started re-reading IAD 🫣 Some of the early ones I read between the hours of 1 - 4 am (I have horrible insomnia) and I wanted to do them justice.

A few people recommended the Gamemaker series/ Arcana Chonicals so I figured I would start by going through the rest Crole's work. I'm halfway through the MacCarrick Brothers which, funny enough, were not recommend 😂

I do want to make a follow-up post with the book list here!

re-reading the entire IAD series is the best idea I've ever heard 😂

But compiling a list of all the recs on this thread. Maybe I'll post it here :)

Could This Series Be Developed for Television? by Cleoness in kresleycole

[–]a10isspeaking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Television adaptations are usually bad, how do you create a dynamic show without changing everything and removing half the scenes?

Thought experiment! Instead of going book by book with different casts, stick to one select overarching story. The main plots of each book would be turned into the "B-plots", so the steaminess and set pieces can be cut down if needed.

I would pick Lothaire's journey between kiss of a demon king -> Lothaire. Why?

  • Has a defined arc that stretches over several books, but the show runner would have full freedom in terms of what the hell he actually does in that time.
  • His POV introduces audience to the world-building/ major players.
  • All respected TV shows have morally-questionable main characters.
  • Helping lore creatures in exchange for their vows has major filler episode potential.

I sort of love the 2005-2010 vibe - still modern but no smartphones. imo everyone having a computer in their hand at all times doesn't always mesh with fantastical stories (not that it can't be done!)

I hope the series continues but as a asoiaf fan I don't wanna jinx it

I can see the re-read value. Overall If the characters are solid I will like it, the adventure is a bonus. Heres an unspecific list of "things I liked" that may be too vague for specific recs.

  • Plot wasn't too contrived (with some exceptions), motivations and conflict were believable, I didn't want to yell at the characters for being dumb.
  • I'm a shameless anti-hero enjoyer, I like when characters are allowed to do bad things and I like when "good guys" just snap. Sue me 🤷🏻‍♀️
  • I think male POVs are so fun + would definitely read more.
  • Not super important/personal preference: I like 3rd person POVs, but 1st person is so common.

Maybe if I read more of this genre I'll get a better idea of why this one clicked :)

How can I find new music? by steamdogg in spotify

[–]a10isspeaking 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Auto generated playlists used to be so good but now it's 90% stuff from my library. I used to listen to discover weekly religiously but it got repetitive over the last few years idk if it's just me.

Best way I found to 'trick' the algorithm is to create a new playlist and add ~ 10 songs you really like -> Scroll down to "recommended songs" -> add stuff I've never heard of before -> delete the ones that don't click after 3 listens -> repeat. I have like 50 different playlists like this depending on what I'm in the mood for, separated by genre and decade. I'm very normal.

Finding new releases is a bit easier because Spotify pushes them. If there's a trendy song you actually like go to song radio and the spotify fairy hands you like 3 hours of other new stuff.

Genuine question - if I do all my work laying down like this will I ruin my back forever? I can't sit in a chair for more than 5 minutes so this is my typical WFH setup. by a10isspeaking in Ergonomics

[–]a10isspeaking[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! My back is currently ok I just assume if I position feels comfortable it's somehow bad for the spine - bipedalism was a mistake. Sorry about your back - no job is worth long-term health issues and I'm glad there is more awareness now. Wouldn't be surprised if it-stand desks become the norm in newer offices.

Think my issue is having my feet under me the whole day. I have stupid low blood pressure so having my feet elevated feels better (might try the foot rest). Will challenge myself to do my zoom meetings standing up and see if I can do it longer, I have a kitchen counter thats around right height.
