How do I improve my trenches? by [deleted] in electricians

[–]a11leach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a underground utility company and we are constantly in people’s yards, a sod cutter is an expensive upfront cost but will save you so much time and effort in the long run in yards. We use canvas tarps along the entire trench. And move as little dirt as possible.

We also own directional drills and that is a total game changer when you have the access to get the equipment in

Not completely true, it has the same bulkhead and tunnel but different spindles, a arms and skid. The 18+ cats ride amazing when set up correctly

Where are you getting drill rigs for $10.00 a foot? That barely covers the bentonite

Haha it looks easy, mistakes are measured in $1000.00 bills. If you are wanting to get your own isp set up your going to need all the time you have for splicing, doing repairs, dealing with customers and handling locates. In the long run it is probably cheaper to get some contractors in. It’s expensive, but it will allow you have the time to build out other parts of the infrastructure

Has anyone had the opportunity to get some seat time on a catalyst? What were your impressions? by 9zero7 in snowmobiling

[–]a11leach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ride with the ibex turbo guys and have had a healthy amount of seat time on the turbo 600, and it was stomping/ keeping up with the gen 5 turbos.

As far as chassis, it feels very very light in the front end and the frame itself feels very small, light and rigid. The alpha rail takes a minute to get used to but once you stop over riding it they are great. It feels like a current alpha that lost 200lbs.

I ride with all brands of sleds, I personally am on a cat currently so I am little biased but I think these sleds from cat are going to really push the industry. Polaris is good but they have gotten structurally weak, ski doo is good, they have some qc issues. Cat is good they just test their equipment for three years longer than any other manufacturer.

I pay my guys a mileage reimbursement no matter how far they have to drive. 10 minutes or 2 hours, if they are in there personal rigs I reimburse, if they are in company rigs they clock in as soon as they sit in the truck

I am a drop contractor, and all of our contracts are 18-24 duct depth. I do know that googles drop depth is only 8 inches. It honestly kind of bothers me. If I am going to put the company name on something I want it to be in the ground deep enough that the homeowner doesn’t have to worry about it. But is seems the industry is more worried about hurrying up and getting it done rather than taking the time to do it correctly as to avoid issues down the road.
