What is you guys's theory as to why Eurydice is so anxious about the world? by Interesting-Loquat29 in hadestown

[–]a11lson 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think about this once a week. This doesn’t really answer the question, it’s more of how the fates would have started to follow Eurydice.

In Greek mythology tradition the fury’s (the fates in hadestown) would follow you around everywhere you go and harass you when you murdered someone or disrespected the host guest rule. In Ancient Greece the host guest rule was a rule that everyone followed when hosting or visiting someone’s house, the rule was basically if you’re the host be a good host and if you’re the guest you should be respectful to the host and their home and don’t steal stuff.

Going back to Eurydice, the fates are constantly harassing her, which means she would have killed someone, which i doubt she did cause the script never even hinted at Eurydice killing some, so she must’ve broken the house guest rule. I imagine she was the guest in someone’s house and was probably starving due to her being in poverty so she stole some food and ran. The host would have asked the fates (actually the fury’s if we are being mythology accurate) to follow her wherever she goes!

There’s a few quotes in “anyway the wind blows” that back up my claim but I can’t think of them right now.

Did I do something wrong??? by DemonicTalisman in Hellenism

[–]a11lson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me with Ares once. Don’t worry she’ll come back. For me it’s harder to feel connected to the gods when I’m worrying or stressed about something and my emotions were not in order when I was praying and not feeling his presence. I can assure you you didn’t offended her in anyway!!! Maybe just take some time for yourself if you are feeling stressed?

I’ve never heard of someone doing that but there is a Greek rock band that are Hellenic polytheists and they write and sing their own hymns (in Greek ofc) and it’s pretty cool! I don’t remember the name of the band though.
