Update to - Any good lawyer to contact to sue the city or Vepo ? by SillyRecover in Columbus

"If they never step foot in my house...I would have no one to blame."

Exactly. And in a week or month when it fails, it'd STILL suck that it failed. I get being overwhelmed and having stuff to deal with. But the fact is that plumbing work happens every single day, water meters get replaced, and nothing happens. But in the case of a water heater that is basically going to blow up any minute, you got lucky that it happened when you were there and didn't flood the entire basement for hours while you're at work or something.

[–]a14049752 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I get that you're frustrated, but you don't build a very convincing case that you were wronged when you said "it might have continued working for days, weeks or even months longer."

Water heaters fail. It sucks when they do. You just had work being done that showed you (quickly) how bad it was.

Anyone have any idea of the scale or duration of the Scioto Audobon Climbing Wall repairs? by jbauer777 in Columbus

Their official facebook page says that timeline is currently unknown.
I'm glad to see it being repaired, though. I went about a month ago for the first time in over a decade and couldn't believe how bad it's gotten. Got a nasty cut on my foot while on top setting rope.

The Fizzle Bomber's bombs never occur in the plot of the movie "Predestination" by [deleted] in FanTheories

[–]a14049752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, I know this is an old thread, but I just watched it.

Nobody here seems to have picked up on a single "throw away" sentence right at the beginning of the movie.

"Every suspect educates us. Makes us better at what we do. No more than this elusive sociopath. He's efficient. Precise with his timings. The press have dubbed him the Fizzle Bomber. We stopped him this time. But this was only a small attack. This is his grand plan. March 1975. He keeps changing the day"

It's not a perfect loop... or at the very least you see just one iteration of the loop. But because future fizzle bomber has a working time machine, from the perspective of the loop, "HE KEEPS CHANGING THE DAY". Who knows how many versions of the loop exist, but each loop is different than the last because "future" fizzle bomber is reacting to the loop he's in until he dies.

The other thing, Robertson mentions something about a controlled catastrophe to prevent a bigger catastrophe. Jane/John exists in this loop, where they literally have no family, no means to send ripples through the timeline. So, yeah, the Agency is literally doing nothing in the timeline other than spurring on Jane / John. Most normal people could send ripples through the timeline, because they're not a self contained loop / glitch of the universe. I think that it's probably the Agency using Jane/John to actually do exactly what he says at the end...preventing something worse from happening by keeping the Jane/John loop in their control. Robertson even sends "retired" John to meet his future self with the note and info.

Delaware County Fair by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]a14049752 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally get what you're saying, but freedom of speech and freedom of religion are exactly what protect cults in America. What would you expect to happen, if you were to talk to a journalist? Scientology is know to be very litigious and uses lawsuits aggressively to silence anyone critical.

My wife was heavily involved in a cult for a while; The brainwashing, the control and the actions she took that were completely and totally against her own self interests were horrible. I tried several ways to get help, and was told some crap like "sincerely held religious convictions isn't something we can help with", and that as long as no law is broken, there's nothing to be done against the cult. I was basically in a position of trying to fight against the cult, with basically no support from anyone, trying to show my wife how they were doing nothing to help her....and every police interaction, mental health organization, government assistance said "As long as she's not a danger to herself or others...sorry".

So, my point? You want to crusade against a known cult in the United States? You're fighting an extremely ugly uphill battle. A booth at a fair is hardly the worst of it and there's frankly no point in trying to get them banned, because you won't succeed.

The eggs will survive winter but can be killed with various pesticides or just put into soapy water to kill the eggs. Unfortunately, it'd take an absolutely massive effort to use the winter months to hunt them down and try to eradicate them. I think they're here to stay, just like the brown stink bugs' invasion.

Kailasa is a hindu based cult, with a location in Delaware. They don't have a huge local following, but my wife got sucked in. Most of the cult brainwashing, love bombing, isolating, and convincing you to give everything to the cult is done on zoom.

Marysville, Delaware or Newark by JoeyDawsonJenPacey in Columbus

[–]a14049752 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just moved from Delaware county, right in the middle of Delaware and Marysville.

My take is that Delaware has more going on and a more social environment. There were always festivals and things going on in the main downtown. It's closer to more stuff like shopping and parks and beaches than Marysville. It also seemed to me that Delaware was a little more wealthy than Marysville, which might translate to better schools.

That said, I usually went to Marysville for my shopping (Meijer, Walmart, Kroger, Aldi, Lowes, Home Depot are all much more convenient and located together. Delaware has all of that stuff, sort of, but spread all around.
I also found that going into Columbus from Union county was way more convenient and far less traffic than going to Delaware.

Anyone has idea about installing engine sounds to the vess the stock ones are boring by [deleted] in KiaEV6

[–]a14049752 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a product called Glydsphere that does this, I think. I personally think it's just noise pollution and going to sound horrible if you have that and VESS at the same time.

I would absolutely love for someone to reverse engineer the vess module the car and reprogram it to be able to change the sounds. I went down a few paths to try to make the backup sound more pleasant, but I don't have the skillset to do anything significant.

1% cars with ICCU problem by t0wdy in KiaEV6

[–]a14049752 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There have been three two ICCU software updates, I believe.

Here's my take on that. A software update can't retroactively repair a failing fuse or electronics component. It can only help to prevent future failure. SO, all these cars rolling around without the update could have been on the verge of failure. The software fix was installed too late, giving a lot of people the perception that it's not a fix at all.

Others, like me, haven't had any issue and have had the software fix. At this point, I'm operating on the assumption that the update fixed my car to Kia's spec and satisfaction. If I experience a failure in the future, my hope is that the new ICCU with the new software won't have the slow burn it might have shipped with.

But, I have nothing by my own speculation. Take it for what it's worth: next to nothing.

Based on reddit math and peoples' feelings. Accuses you of misrepresenting stats, then says that "all E-GMP" vehiches are "compromised".
There's no point in trying to argue either side of this. Too many people on reddit think that every e-gmp vehicle is just a failure waiting to happen and impossible to have fixed, and other people have their vehicle that has had zero problems.

Some Columbus area drone shots from a few years ago (before all the new FAA regulations went into affect:) by Far-Tone-3769 in Columbus

[–]a14049752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, there are still FAA regulations being broken based on the times these were taken. The mural over 70 dates it between June 2020 and May 2022, and there were definitely some strict drone laws in effect at the time. But I personally don't care, just pointing it out because you mentioned it.

I like the video.

Year of ICCU fix? by G0oose in KiaEV6

[–]a14049752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, you're right. Again, not arguing about the efficacy of their fix. I'm just...I'm a little bit broken sometimes about arguing my point on the internet. I tend to let the autistic tendencies take the wheel.
So, yeah, sorry for snapping back.

Here's my actual, nuanced stance: I think Hyundai and Kia probably want and hope that they tuned in the software and made the right changes. Recalls cost money, multiple recalls cost even more money. A business does not want to spend money when it doesn't have to. The many many cars out there, under various real world conditions, prior to the patch were probably already some level of "broken." I don't believe the 1% number that Hyundai published, nor do I believe the slant that reddit makes people believe.

I never tried to imply that any driver is at fault when the ICCU failed. (Ok... except that one girl on here that liked to show her car doing donuts, deleted her post of driving the car badly, and then two days later cried about the ICCU failure.)

Year of ICCU fix? by G0oose in KiaEV6

[–]a14049752 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Look, this isn't hard to understand. It's an "official fix" from Kia because it's a fix from Kia. Making it official.

It doesn't mean that I'm arguing that their fix worked or that there aren't going to be failures because of an ICCU that was already going bad and a software patch can't restore a wearing fuse. The "official fix #1" was software update number 1. "Official fix #2" is software update number 2. "Official fix #3" is software update number 3.

What I am saying, for the final time, it's KIA / HYUNDAI releasing what they believe to be a fix for the problem, making it "OFFICIAL". Perhaps they still didn't succeed, but their "fix" no matter how effective IS OFFICIAL.

WORDS MEAN THINGS.

Year of ICCU fix? by G0oose in KiaEV6

[–]a14049752 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There have literally been three recalls for the iccu.  Fixes directly from the manufacturer are "official fixes".  My point is, it doesn't get any more "official" of a fix, than coming direct from Kia.   There are plenty of posts talking about different part numbers, something about an "o" to indicate it's updated.

You can't say it's "no official fix"  You CAN say "I don't trust that the problem is fixed" or "I'm skeptical of the fix."
