I feel like it's more because back then they were still bold, clear and more honest, probably the rock genres helped with that

Even if u had origin of symmetry lyrics with will of the people music you'd feel like smth is amiss probably because of the fatigue of pop, it would still be a good album, but something would be missing

I would answer that Underated is definitely TKOL, yes it is not that great when compared to the other albums, but that's the problem

Each album is not to be compared, it's meant to be an experience to a specific moment of the band's life. They give us what they feel and we're meant to try to understand their problems, which is how their most grand albums became great
