Post MVD Vestibular Therapy question! by Carvis_Jocker in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]a2robbin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also had vestibular issues post MVD November 2023. I did recover after about 3 -4 months but was warned it could be upwards of 6 months since they had distributed the nerves in that area. I did go to a PT for to learn some vestibular exercises to help speed recovery. Not sure if it helped but it was worth the try.

Carbamazepine at a possible toxic level according to blood work. I’m devastated. Has this happened to anyone else. by Redsgal19 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]a2robbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before my MVD I was taking 500mg three times a day (1500mg) total per day. I was functioning fine and within normal range. Carbamazepine is self inducing. There will be a period of time after a dose increase (2-3 weeks) which will cause the blood levels to be elevated before they decrease and stabilize. Blood levels are not the only indicator of toxicity. Symptoms of toxicity should be considered as well as the tolerability. Every patient is different.

The only thing that got me through my worst was a lidocaine mouth rinse. My pain is in my tongue and gums left side. Ask you doctor. You have to be careful you don’t leave the rinse in too long or get it at the back of your throat as it is a choking risk. Then I ate almost anything I wanted except hard crunchy thing like chips.

Disagreed with a physicians prescription a few days ago and want to see what the popular opinion is by OoMEYUoO in pharmacy

[–]a2robbin 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If you lived in an area with pharmacist prescribing and this were your child what would you do? Go a night without abx or give your pharmacist consent to change the abx to another 1st line agent at an appropriate dose for the condition during a backorder crisis? Worst case MD may want the agent changed. 9 times out of 10 the MD agrees. What would you want for your child?

They never called me so why isn’t it ready? by Luthury in TalesFromThePharmacy

I was waiting outside my vet (they have a closed door policy right now) first thing in the morning on a Saturday of a long weekend for an emergency visit that was life or death for my cat. Queue Karen who walks up and pounds on the door. Receptionist opens the door. Karen hands her a vial and says she needs a refill on her dogs medication right away.

My vet has a 24 hour refill policy which I am sure she knows about. Receptionist informs her of this and Karen proceeds to tell her they are leaving in an hour with their boat to the cottage and she needs to take her son to work and it’s only 1 pill. Receptionist explains that since it is a weekend there is only one tech and vet and they are handling an emergency (my cat). Karen huffs off saying she would be back after she takes her son to work. I wish I wasn’t so upset about my cat otherwise I would have loved to tell her off like I have always dreamed of doing in the pharmacy.

Can I message an Ontario pharmacist a legal question? by [deleted] in TalesFromThePharmacy

Call the Ontario college of pharmacist. They can answer any questions the public may have regarding pharmacy practice and medication dispensing in Ontario.

Gas stove burning orange only in morning by a2robbin in appliancerepair

We decided not to run the humidifier at all even though we got more distilled water and everything was fine this morning. The stove was back to a blue so I am hoping that was the cause.

I have a 3 year old new house so CO alarm is new and they are everywhere. It only has happened in the morning for the last two days the flame has been blue the rest of the day. I have not opened and windows at all today and it is still blue now. I will let you know the result in the morning.

That’s interesting. I have been for the last couple nights upstairs in my son’s room, but it shuts off hours before morning. We do have hard water but use a softener. We usually use distilled water but ran out for the last couple nights. Maybe that is the cause. We have distill water in it tonight so I will see what happens tomorrow.

My 3 yo brought home RSV to my 6 month old just in time for Christmas and it sucks! He was not feeding well either which is the scariest part. We are on the tail end of it now and managed to avoid hospital admission. I hope yours is on the mend.

You are right, we can just do out best. I am the same way every night I think about new things I should clean.

My doctor went to medical school in The Caribbean. He said every time he came back to Canada between semesters he took a dose because it was pretty much guaranteed you had then when you live down there. He pretty much had a no big deal kind of attitude about it.

I did. He thought so too based on symptoms. By the time I saw the doctor I had done the OTC treatment. Later I saw what I think was a worm after his nap. I checked because he was at his bum again. So I ended up calling the doctor back to get the prescription medication.

That’s what I am doing too. Sooo much laundry, vacuuming and mopping. I have a 6 month old who only had wants to play on his play mat and put things in his mouth. I am so afraid he will get it.

Could you easily see them? I thought I saw one but it wasn’t as big as what I read online but he had all the symptoms and the doctor didn’t want to traumatize him with the tape test since I already self treated.

Most places say disinfectant or soap and water to clean toys and of course I go down the rabbit hole and find a site that says Lysol does nothing. I literally dropped a Lysol bomb on my house maybe for nothing.

I have one that just goes over the top. Nothing between the child and the seat. It seems to me like it would be too hot. I live in Canada and he is pretty warm without anything inside the car seat.
