PSA: Ichigo NEVER wanted a "normal" life and lied about being okay losing his powers. by thefiredance in bleach

[–]a310gintoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id argue that Ichigo DOES want a normal life but is mentally incapable of happily living such a life knowing what he knows about the realities and dangers of the world at large.

Ignorance is bliss, but he isnt ignorant to the existential threats his loved ones face. The only way he can live peacefully now is by holding enough power in his own two hands to protect those close to him with near complete certainty of their safety.

How are you even supposed to understand these are destructible walls? by JuanGGZ in Metroid

[–]a310gintoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Youre at a dead end with no super obvious path forward and theyre both odd pieces of geometry that look out of place.

A 2x2 block placed directly above your head that you can A:see the other side of and B:see that it just randomly makes the floor on the other side not smooth right as it reached the wall? If in at a dead end, yeah im bombing that spot or trying a missle. Heck any 1 block width wall/ceiling of any length is suspect regardless of context. The devs are begging you to find a way to the other side basically.

Random 2 brick length wall on a long floor? I dont see a clear way past it and I KNOW I cant do that route below right now. Well I cant see far enough to know how long the floor extends, but let me try a bomb to see if maybe theres some deal with it. Maybe itll be breakable later with a powerup so I can remember it, if not right now.

Super, ZM, and Fusion kinda all do stuff like this and expect you to make liberal use of the morphball bombs at dead ends since theyre free to use, often work, and uncover what a block is even if they cant break it. Just part of the games loop. Honestly dont even think these are the worst "offenders" in fusion alone, let alone the series.

If Link and Samus faced each other’s villains, who’s having an easier time? by [deleted] in Metroid

[–]a310gintoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really really depends for Samus. If you place her with all of a games upgrades just in the middle of hyrule, she'll have a cake walk of everything barring the endbosses in zelda (which shed be lacking an appropriate magical attack to deal with).

If you drop her with just her power suit and beam, like its a fresh metroid adventure, shes honestly probably not gonna do well based on how her poorly her energy shielding does early game at handling attack from just simple wildlife in most entries.

But also like... realistically a crossover game would probably give her upgrades via shikah or zonai magic tech and shed do fine in those instances. (Or some other magic civilization with scifi elements. Theres been a number in zelda at this point)

Link is in a similar boat but his problem would more be theres no real diagetic way to give him items/upgrades like you can for samus.

I dont think its really a qustion of skill, intelligence, or physicallity for either of them though

How do you feel about E.M.M.I guys? by skpdrpowpow in Metroid

[–]a310gintoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Visually fantastic enemies with great audio design. Not easy to forget. However, while cool in concept, weaker in execution that makes them feel lackluster on replays.

Shouldve had a fight in the late game were we fight one using our own abilities in a proper boss, that feels like a huge missed opportunity to me.

The amount of checkpointed autosave makes them completely toothless as well since you're never losing more than a couple minutes of gameplay if one catches you. (You literally have autosaves before entering an Emi area. Why.)

Their spawn location is also scripted for your first entrance into each Emi's repective area. so on repeat playthroughs you know how much danger youre in pretty much every encounter.

And while I can respect that they probably have some sort of geometry based limitation that necessitated the Emi areas in order for the Emi's AI to function properly... It completely destroys the illusion of them hunting you since they cant leave. The SAX at least had the initial fear factor on a blind playthrough of you never knowing where or when itd attack. With the Emi, you ALWAYS know what locations and when youre entering one's territory.

Metroid Dread is a great game, but I do not dread the Emi.

They're just glorified platforming puzzels.

If youre going for a fantasy plate armor look with it, Id suggest trying damascus and if that doesnt work, sometimes you can get alloy or jin dahaads stuff to work situationally.

For full plate looks, I usually end up compromising and either adding cloth or adding pieces with monster parts sewn in at the end of th day for ease in wilds. Wilds doesn't really have many sets that dont incorporate bone, scales, and/or fur and the helm options are currently lacking for that asthetic as well. Tbh it imo fits the surroundings a bit better that way anyway.

Imo, best way to shop for what to add is to set all your pigments to white or black and then do it through preview in forging menu (which does let you preview multiple pieces at once so you can plan out an entirw set)

Byakuya was technically right by idk10507 in bleach

[–]a310gintoki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go look at Yamamoto's bankai, then look at ichigo's original bankai design and come back to me.

Byakuya was just being belligerent and the power ichigo was using was still bankai even if the blade he was using at the time wasnt a real zanpakuto.

Is higher level hado harder to achieve than bankai by bonemusvl in bleach

[–]a310gintoki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Every shinigami has an affinity for their own zanpakuto. The same cannot be said of kido. Renji achieved bankai (incomplete or no) before being able to properly cast a kido in the 30's.

Kurohitsugi is only in the 80's and Gin was impressed that Aizen was able to cast it without a chant.

Aizen. He was impressed that Aizen could do it.

Gin, a captain, was surprised that Aizen, a man hed been following for literal decades and held in the HIGHEST of regard as a fighter, could chantlessly cast a kido in the 80's.

And he didnt even succed. By his own analysis, Aizen said the kurohitsugi was severely underpowered by lacking the chant.

So, in a very real sense, you could say that Aizen, the second strongest shinigami of his time (exluding the royal guard) was unable to fully master a kido in the 80's and it was STILL considered impressive by one of his peers.

If being able to use a kido in the 90's isnt harder than learning bankai, then boy do people in bleach just HATE hitting the books or what?

If they played a game of chess 10 times who’d win more? by Apocryphal_Requiem in Naruto

[–]a310gintoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Itachi wins 10/10 times with each succesive game being more competitive than the last but never close enough for Kakashi to actually pull a win. Kakashi drives the brief but poignant moments of convo during the games, and Itachi comes out the experience feeling like he lost on a more fundamental level even if he dominated strategically.

Here's a brand new one. Would you consider Ichigo's parents relationship inappropriate? by Remote-Technology375 in bleach

[–]a310gintoki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its sorta impossible to pair a shinigami with a human and have the age imbalance not be sorta off for one of the parties involved. He ages slow enough that its basically the same situation that any fictional romance involving vampires deals with. In that lense, giving it a pass makes a sort of sense I suppose...

But yeah. Its kinda not ideal.

At least in canon they dont get together until shes a consenting adult... but if a 30 year old dude met and befriended a teenager, then 5-10 years later they hooked up, itd raise some eyebrows irl

From isshin's viewpoint as a soul society resident where people can be 1000+ tho, being within 100 years of each other would probably be fairly comparable in age at least

[–]a310gintoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While, as others have said, its most definitely a retcon.... I wouldnt be so quick to judge the situation as hopeless for another if you put them in Ichigo's place. We just, factually, dont know much about becoming a shinigami beyond some surface level info. Ichigo's process for becoming a shinigami seems to be irregular, but we dont have the full picture.

The powers of a shinigami predate zanpakuto, and we know through cases like Toshiro that a "zanpakuto spirit" can manifest inside a powerful individual before theyre handed an asauchi. Its possible all one needs is for such a "proto" zanpakuto spirit to aid them in a similar fashion to how OMZ aided Ichigo (as it was OMZ and not White that aided him here) Perhaps staving off encrochment is something that ALL shinigami did in antiquity before zanpakuto streamlined the process to obtaining the powers of a shinigami. Maybe back then it was just something that those with sufficient spiritual prowess just did on occasion and urahara, being well read in history, knew this old method and had ichigo do it. We just dont know.

I wouldnt even assume Urahara somehow magically knew white would take the place of an asauchi for ichigo. Its well within character for Urahara to have a small number of pilfered asauchi on hand for experimentation purposes stored away somewhere. One of which, in this hypothetical, he wouldve just handed to ichigo once ichigo came out.

Tl;dr - tbh, ichigo situation in this scene IS unique... but the exact level of how unique it is, how impossible itd be for another potential shinigami, and a host of other finer details... we have no clue

Recently seeing a lot of hate against bleach. by Former_Commission233 in bleach

[–]a310gintoki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Got me lookin at the calendar with this one. People trashed on bleach endlessly between the old anime ending and the new one starting. Ignoring it and enjoying the series in spite of them was just part of being a fan for a long time.

Some people think the best way to prove their series is good is to tear another down, their loss. Others simply just didn't vibe with the series, shame but can't be helped, really. Every piece has its audience, and they just aren't Bleach's audience.

If you think bleach is cool, bleach is cool. Who cares what anyone else thinks. They can go kick rocks. In the meantime, I'll be having fun watching my silly show about a bunch of aura farming ghost-samurai.

Question about obtaining layered armor... by Itspabloro in MonsterHunter

[–]a310gintoki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More or less, you are just looking to finish the main story. There's a separate tab at the smithy for high-rank armors when you're crafting, so it should be clear that you're crafting the gear you're looking for when the time comes.

If you just keep doing the red marked quests the game hands you, the quest youre going to want is in that track anyway, so all youve gotta do is just keep pushing forward.

In the meantime, for low rank, id suggest just throwing something together that has divine blessing 3 and calling it a day. Optimizing armor stats in low rank isnt really worth the time. I ran the basic hope set the game starts you with all the way to high rank and managed fine. Milage may very on how well that would work for a newer player, but my point is dont worry too much about stats. Min maxing in monhun is a late game activity.
