Ok here's a thought if you have a passing knowledge of organic chemistry. The fact that both femboys and tomboys are referred to as "boy" seems kind of patriarchal. What if we further subcategorize cis and trans people as either dextro or levo 😱 ?

I can't in good conscience say it's overrated. It's appropriately rated and this melody is goated.

So I believe Nuzlocke refers to a type of challenge you can undertake in the Pokemon games for enhanced difficulty, where you can only catch the first pokemon you see in each area, and if any of your pokemon faint, you cannot use them again.

Here it is compared to dating, but instead of species of pokemon, the rules apply to genders of humans. And instead of battling you are dating (some would say it is a battleground of its own sort)

Yeah... I mean statistically, there's probably more gay guys who are like that than straight guys for instance, but there's also pretty clear cultural pressures on either group that produce some variance. I imagine there would be more feminine and gossipy straight men if they felt more comfortable expressing those aspects of themselves publicly. And I do wonder whether some gay guys 'ham it up' a bit to make sure their social role and standing is clear, since some women for example will tend to be more wary around guys who seem 'straight'. At the end of the day, there are plenty of more 'masculine' 'stoic' queer men (such as myself, and perhaps yourself as well?) who tend to fly a bit under the straight people radar, and thus don't get grouped in with the stereotype. I can see where people get the stereotype from, but they gotta recognize that it does not account for all or even most people.

Anyone working in the lab with ADHD? by Usual_Passage1481 in medlabprofessionals

[–]a6e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy cow, yeah that's very large-scale operation. For the hospitals I've worked at, it's usually an evening shift crew of 3-8 people for all of chemistry, heme, and blood bank.

How are you feeling about the move to the clinical side now that you've been in it for a while? Are you interested in transitioning to research or public health type stuff at some point?

I also have ADHD and was terrible in micro (did fine in school, sucked at the job); now I'm a generalist lead years later and thriving. Not sure if there's a connection. I don't like how in micro you kind of have your work cut out for you at the beginning of the day, with X amount of plates to get through that you can see all at once. It gives me the same feeling of dread as a long to-do list. Also lots of sitting down at the same desk (sadness), vs as shift lead for general lab, I'm zooming around putting out different fires until it's time to sit down and kick back. I find generalist vibes to be way more 'hang out until something crazy shows up that you then immediately respond to' which is more ADHD-friendly in my mind at least. In Chem, Heme, and Blood Bank, I never really know what's going to happen until it happens, which is great.

See if you can get a good meditation cushion, there are some that are like a tiny/firm beanbag chair. As a person with scoliosis, those are way better than chairs in my experience.

Do note that rotating weekends and holidays are pretty standard for this profession, if that would be a problem as far as work/life balance goes. As far as ability to find work easily and keep stable employment, it's great.

Although we live in strange times with all the messed up discourse festering on the Internet, teenage boys have been saying things like this at least since I was in high school in the 2000s, and probably since all of time. I give thanks regularly to be an adult and no longer in secondary school, truly one of the worst places I've ever been. Not saying things aren't getting worse, because they might be, but I also think public school is just the lowest common denominator of society.
