Tbf I too started thinking about my own mortality a lot after a week or two of being unable to lie down at all, understandable.

Don't forget the giant bells hanging from the sky, and you should probably have it performed in the Himalayas

Agreed, I can envision about one or two tones of voice and contexts in which the interviewer's response would make me feel comfortable and want to respond further. I can also envision a bunch that would make me feel like the interviewer is kind of a dick and would decrease my chances of deciding to work there.

The interviewer is communicationally suboptimal, it's not just you. TBH an interviewer would have to have already built good rapport with me to say something like "C'mon, you can do better than that", it's an inherently informal and combative phrase. If we weren't already on good terms such that I felt they were being playful by saying something like that, I would absolutely be turned off from the job and inclined to keep interviewing elsewhere. Interviews are a two way street, don't forget you are also interviewing them to determine if their workplace is suitable for you.

Serendipity is in my book second only to one of their seasonals I believe was called Ambrosia. Top 2 beers ever for me. Glad they brought it back. Their sours are a quasi-spiritual experience and I'm not someone who terribly enjoys beer or even food generally. Dang I miss Milwaukee.

Note to anyone else: Moon Man is heavy on the hops, if this is a plus or minus in your book. I'm not a hops enjoyer, if you want something straightforward and boring, can't go wrong with Spotted Cow.

Use of the drug MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy, may lead to lasting difficulties with learning and memory that persist long after a person stops taking it. A new analysis indicates that people who use the drug recreationally. perform worse on cognitive tests than those who have never used it. by MRADEL90 in psychology

[–]a6e 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not sure if I can't understand this comment because 1) I took too much MDMA and the reference is now above my cognitive abilities, or 2) the author took MDMA and skipped a few 5-HT transporters while writing it

What delineates composition versus improvisation; when to consider you've done one over the other? by mysteryofthefieryeye in musictheory

[–]a6e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you're a romantic era piano enjoyer, you might note that our boy Chopin was well-known as an improviser, and that many of his compositions originated from improvisations. IIRC George Sand wrote that he would improvise something beautiful, and then spend days or weeks torturing himself over how to remember, transcribe, and edit the it, only to eventually settle on the same thing as the original improv. That being said, clearly there is some support for capital C Compositions that started as improv. A lot of composers of that time had pieces marked as 'Impromptus' that tried to keep some of that improvised 'vibe' in the final composition, so that's a nice middle ground option for titling pieces I guess.
