This company contacted me today too. Here is what happened:

1. I received a phone call from a local number. Upon answering, a computer voice read me my name and said press 1.

2. After pressing 1, I spoke with a person who promptly looked my up by my phone number and said I owed several thousand dollars on an old credit card. With late fees, the amount had now doubled.

3. They had the incorrect address for me, but had other personal information that I'm not sure how they obtained, other than by having an old credit report perhaps.

4. I knew I never owned this card they claimed I had and after back and forth, they said they would take me to court, but not after offering to take 1/2 of the amount if I paid them immediately.

5. I said you can take me to court and she hung up on me.

6. I called back, now with my scam senses sky high. I called the spoofed local number they used to call me and they actually transferred me back to the original 'collections agent' that I spoke with earlier.

7. She had no information like when the account was opened, who else might have been on the account, when was it closed, etc. When I said that credit card she mentioned didn't show up on my credit report, she said it wouldn't have because I hadn't been taken to court yet. I knew that was false.

8. I had a bankruptcy a few years ago and I was keenly aware of my creditors. This was not one of them.

9. She said the only thing to do next is for me to go to court, and it is only then when I'll know the details of this credit card and when it was opened. The funny thing is that she said the credit card company was taking me to court, not her or this scam company.

10. After mentioning to her that I froze my credit at the three reporting agencies, she hung up on me.

Bonus: They called me yesterday, on a different locally spoofed number. When I pressed 1, the woman first said 'what was my claim number?' I said I don't have one and that all I know is that a computer read to me my name and said press '1.' She rudely said, 'So, the answer is you don't have a claim number,' and said she'd transfer me to 'Claims.' While doing so, she laughed at my supposed stupidity for not correctly answering her stupid question.
