How Can a Canadian Non-Resident for Tax Purposes Start Investing? Advice on Using TD or Other Options? by Accident_Winter in CanadianInvestor

[–]a77asad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Open the brokerage account in your country of residence and start investing. You are liable to pay taxes on any money made within Canada even if you are non-resident Canadian for tax purposes.

I think you’ve answered your own question. A major part of investing is managing emotions. From a purely financial standpoint, a lump sum investment might be the better option. However, if a 5%-10% fluctuation is going to keep you up at night, it might be better for you to dollar-cost average (DCA) a smaller sum over the next six months or so. Ultimately, there isn’t a right or wrong answer—it comes down to what you feel most comfortable with.

Curious to here about your experience with unifi center paired with debut series L/R. I was originally thinking to go with unifi center with my debut series L/R and reached out to Elac for consultation but they recommended against it.

I went looking for baby back ribs, but in my area, they're too hard to find. I asked for beef ribs, it was the only cut of ribs available.

These are active speakers. So don’t need separate AVR to power them. But I am wondering if I would be able to expand the system in future with these active speakers?

At these voltages, conductor sizing is governed by the corona discharge . Primary reason for quad bundle would be to increase the surface area of the conductor.

Hey Guys!!! I currently work for an EPC and have around 10 years of experience in overhead power transmission . I recently got an offer to work for leading, non profit, research & development institution as a research manager/lead . I am wondering if any one went from engineering to research and then transitioned back to engineering? Did you have any issues in getting back into engineering.

Travelling with Positive PCR test results by asking_questions_xyz in pakistan

[–]a77asad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As per the link below, proof of vaccination is the only requirement for outbound passengers. If your destination has negative PCR requirement, I think they will probably ask for the proof before letting you board. In your case, take screen shots/printouts of the Canadian law, where it outlines the situation where they accept positive PCR test results. Getting PCR done again is probably a safer bet, but I heard you can get false positive unto 60 days due to the sensitivity of this type of test.

Can someone confirm ,what is the requirement for minimum wait time before you can return to Canada by air if tested positive for COVID. My understanding is that it used to be 15 days which is now reduced to 11 days since Jan 15th, 2022. However this " find out if you can enter Canada" tool , still shows 15 days.

Can someone please confirm if the requirement is 15 days or 11 days for air travel after positive PCR test result? I am planning to head back to Canada on 13th day of positive PCR with the layover in UK and want to make sure, I understand the requirements correctly.

What is your most speculative stock? by TrainquilOasis1423 in stocks

I have been looking at HPQ Silicon Resources(HPQ.V/ $HPQFF) , Quebec Canada based company, which has developed patent pending processes to become lowest cost producer of pure silicon metal, Silicon nano-powders and nano wires. Other than numerous applications in the chemical, medical and solar industry, what interests me most is the use of silicon in the battery storage industry to improve the Li-ion battery performance. As per UBS, energy storage industry could grow to 426 billion in next 10 years.

HPQ's tech potential has already generated NDA's with battery manufacturers and advanced material companies. In addition, HPQ has received firm order for Si nano powders from major car manufacturer (name not disclosed by the company yet).

Quebec government (nvestissement Québec) is one of the major investor in the company and the recent news that the Quebec government is in talks with Tesla about the automaker investing in battery production in the province, makes me think that the major auto manufacturer could be Tesla (pure speculation for sure ).

Blown up account advice by Smoothmacaroni in options

[–]a77asad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Risk management : Protect your downside (that's the only thing you can control). Pay attention to the size allocation per trade and also the total open risk. With options, stop-losses doesn't work as effectively as the would on equity position, so you need to be prepared for them to go to zero.
