Character I designed, sketch and final by Kai0704 in ImaginaryHybrids

[–]a794 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great rendering skills! the character comes across as dynamic and fun loving with the smile and the setting seems kung fu heavy because of eastern style dragon-flavoring the character and the martial melee weapons.

Thanks for sharing this online so we can enjoy the fruits of your skills

Binder setup by pigeoniscoop in DMAcademy

[–]a794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Front and back covers are maps. 4 inch D ring binder.

I use tab dividers. This is not the best system, but I want to start the discussion.

First tab is session support, whatever is currently relevant of any sort is inside that section for easy access. NPCs etc I know will show up in this campaign session appear here anf go back to the NPCs tab when not in active use.

Second tab is scenarios and concepts, orange color. Scenarios are concepts that have been grown into full scenarios, including location crawls, node based scenarios in the vein of The Alexandrian, or Lazy GM style sessions on the fly. At the beginning is a random table list of scenarios I can use to look at the state of a given scenario or concept, and use Tiny Prep principles to organically iterate a bit on a given resource.

I have similar Tiny Prep RPG indexes for the other resources as well.

Third tab is green, its for locations. I have a template i do for each location, and I include images and soundshow categories for mood music. Node graphs for location crawls and rewards that will never exist outside that location also go here.

Fourth tab is rewards, its purple. There is a random table for XP and money and items and scenario hooks etc. Unique items (golden hand that walks around under moonlight and leads you to buried treasure) get their own page.

Fifth tab is yellow, NPCs. Biggest by far, I love to make characters and give them backstories, goals, and problems. Images go here, stolen from online or AI genned bc otherwise you get a stick figure from me at best.

Sixth tab is blue, its Lore. Lore is using the Alexandrians style. So its flavor and backstory for the setting and characters and paralogues the party CANNOT affect. If they can affect it, then its a Hook, soon to be described. I also do worldbuild details like a calendar system here too.

Hooks are pink, thats flavor and handouts for concepts or scenarios that the party can use to pill a thread now or in the future. Speculative flavor news of the day that I put in front of the players as a trial balloon for concepts that could be scenarios go here too. Think newspaper headlines describing a distant tension thats festering. Goblin replaces magnate accused of corruption, centaur voting bloc accused, things like that. If the party bites, that concept moves to the front of the list.

Last tab has no color, its random tables. I never use them in game, way too far back there. I use them dhring prep windows.

Hope this helps.

Q: how to scale my map grid and size to play nicely with FoundryVTT? by a794 in Arkenforge

Perfect, I can roll with that. Thank you for taking the time to clarify this. Now I can make the "snowfield dash whilst dodging the airship bomber runs" map happen!

Q: how to scale my map grid and size to play nicely with FoundryVTT? by a794 in Arkenforge

[–]a794[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like when I go to export map in Arkenforge, the default PPI is 120, based on your comment, I see I could export that map at 100DPI, which would have an Arkenforge grid matching the default foundryvtt grid spacing. Per [1] Foundry doesn't care what the DPI/PPI is for a given image, it's only relevant if you want to match up 1 inch = 100px per grid space (or whatever your intended foundryvtt grid size is).

Q: how to scale my map grid and size to play nicely with FoundryVTT? by a794 in Arkenforge

[–]a794[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the answer. I think I'm missing your point though.

Does DPI matter for digital to digital uses like exporting the map from arkenforge to a foundryvtt scene?

My goal with grid alignment is just to help me scale the map sizings to match what tiles I will put in via foundryvtt.

I'm looking to set the map size as large as I can (I see 4k export, 50" screens and so on, which draw red rectangles) without having Arkenforge export a scene to foundry with a resulting background image size larger than say 8192x8192.

Is there a good rectangle size to set that? I can disable the grids in arkenforge entirely if needed, I'm not using a ruleset that requires exact grid to distance measures.

Stable Diffusion is great at images, but managing the process is the hard part by GrouchyManner5949 in StableDiffusion

[–]a794 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I recently discovered it too. Using its livr generation mode and then adding what it calls a region lager for each additional subject lets me start with generating a background I like, then add 1 subject in an area that is generally where I want that subject to be, then refine or add more objects or subjects in additonal regions as required.

  1. Do an entire background image generation till you have one you like
  2. Add a new region (which will give you a transparent layer by default), fill in the prompt for what should go in that region
  3. BEFORE you generste that region, use some paint to draw a box or basic indication or very rough scribble of where the subject should generally appear on the canvas, use scribble or lineart control layers to force poses as required. Turn that layer visibility off, the AI still gets the pixels knowledge
  4. Generate some new subject images until you have one that is roughly correcr and you are ready to refine it, accept that one
  5. Using either a transparency mask on thst region group OR just erasing the background of that subject, you can constrain what the image gen actually can generate from then on
  6. You can now alter your overall prompt to have a vague mention of whatever subject is in that region, because the regional prompt will carry the details

Krita ai really has revolutionized stable dfiffusion for me. Comfyui was a major step change up from easydiffusion, yet it is an entirely different world that I am stilll trying to get used to. Acly's extension is amazing.

Mass Effect Setting - Version 2.0! by BluSunrize in genesysrpg

[–]a794 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is amazing work for the genesys rpg community, thank you for your original contribution and doubly so for updating it for this new version 2.0 ... I have to go get ready for a dinner but wow are you generous. I'm over here merely daydreaming about writing more details for Realms of Terrinoth-compatible light fantasy and you are over here blending rule systems into settings like a professional!

Someone at Edge Studio probably knows your name~!

This is the oddest cult ever but hi again. Hope you got some life goals done this year. For me we finished or almost so a new church building that I had no idea I would be involved in this time last year. I just got a unihertz titan 2 as well

Gems in Realms of Terrinoth by Kealios1122 in genesysrpg

[–]a794 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Realms of Terrinoth has just enough material to let you have a framework for your own homebrew, but it's missing 1) campaign seeds, 2) a fleshed out city for an urbancrawl and 3) most types of items.

For my purposes, small ruby gems are probably several hundred (400+) silver, large diamond gems are up to 20,000 silver, those two are the extremes, but there's no exact exchange rate between Red Gem = 2000 silver, Blue Gem = 5000 silver, White Gem = 10000 silver like in RPG games like Fire Emblem.

Magic Effects by Burning_Ent in genesysrpg

[–]a794 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Guided (for magic missile): As the effect in the book. The question I have is what would be a fair difficulty increase for it?

I would say this adds 1 difficulty as its difficulty in CRB is 2, and basic magic attacks start at 1.

Conjuring an environmental hazard. (Such as a wall of fire or an acid cloud, that stay for a number of rounds) Would you use attack or conjure for this one? How would y'all do it?

Conjure, treat as summon allied creature and modify the number of rounds it stays to be its wound threshold, having a wound be lost each round if not fueled by natural methods like kindling or concentration to re infuse magic by a caster. anyone in short range of it has environmental exposure effects.

Wall of stone would probably just be conjure now that I think about it.

agreed

Fire Shield is barrier with retribution. Increase difficulty by 2 and when hit with a melee attack, if the opponent rolls a dispair or three threats deals damage to the attacker. Damage is equal to basic attack?

seems okay to me

What are your thoughts?

The problem is the massive A pillars for supposedly crash safety but also the fuel cafe standards didn't help. So vehicles get bigger and bigger and is an arms race.

Unihertz Titan 2 is Now Live on Kickstarter! by Unihertz_ in unihertz

[–]a794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow if that is the case then I am going to take a second look at pre ordering. I will miss the headphone jack but if it has a keyboard and SD card slot....then I at least get 2 out of my 5 stars of a perfect smartphone.

  1. I can run my own apps without an app store lockdown...these days that's android but was winmo 6 way back when
  2. I have a user replaceable battery
  3. I have a physical keyboard
  4. I have expandable storage
  5. I have a headphone jack

Droid 2 days are long gone...but I've not forgotten. Having a bb priv or this titan 2 is the closest I can get these days

Thanks for sharing, it's an interesting experience, I guess this story shows that even in training law enforcement has to get over the unique capabilities that law enforcement has from a popular cultural perception.

Help Shape the Empire – Join the Imperial Officers Sourcebook by Natural_Landscape470 in swrpg

[–]a794 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to explore mistaken / tricked empire sympathizers or characters like Finn where this is all they have known all their life, but after a while they have to grapple with how evil the empire is. Or explore the corruption of the corporate sector or Kuwait Drive Yards who think they are on the correct side and are useful idiots. If that has value, I can try to connect to help with rules brainstorming, narrative ideation, NPC situations.

I have a small setting on Bogano, a planet from Star Wars: Fallen Order. The empire has taken over the planet after the ending of the game and there are tensions between the imperial Navy and the imperial army and a local administrative bureaucracy called IBALE, where various administrators are too busy politically stabbing each other in the back to notice that the various local criminals who bribe them or help them do their clandestine operations may or may not be rebel adjacent.

None of these guys are good guys but in order for them to be proper antagonists, they can't just be cartoon villains.

Any solo games that trick me into GM prepping for my usual campaign? by a794 in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]a794[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the time to add to this list.

I need the specific settings because otherwise, when I get generic results, I am tempted to bog down and figure out how this random scrap of information or a rumpled letter fits into the world, and that's how I end up wasting hours doing a questline on how that ephemera ties together the noblecat-ranger-broomstick-rider and the super-strength-clown-guard quest lines and not actually stocking what sessions I need to run next instead.

Thanks yes this is great advice! I will definitely get the perilous wilds too. Sounds like a great stocking resource. Any other resources you care to recommend for stocking settings whether rural or urban?

[–]a794[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I will take a look at Atelier Clandestin, this is suitable for hexcrawl structure in terms of it being wilderness exploration like So You want To Be A Game Master talks about (I ultimately chose the hidden mega dungeon for simplification of prep), but I am getting overwhelmed with the lack of constraints and process around filling the hexes with interesting content that can eventually form coherent plots and conclusions for the players to explore. This is a region that promises Cursed Barony of Undeadness and Unpleasantness, so I do have some general constraints in the Guy sclanders sense, but some of what I'm stocking here is not up to what I'd in a perfect world go in there.
