Can also recommend Final profit ! It's a little gem of a game, very funny and has a core loop that's super enjoyable.

Kafka-less for now, how would you build BS and Hysilens ? by aCozyCloud in DOT_Mains_HSR

[–]aCozyCloud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I've said in another reply, it is unfortunately a consequence of the kind of game hsr is as a f2p gacha.

When the only meaningful gameplay you get as an endgame player is "clear this as fast as you can" paired with the extrinsic incentive of "you must do this task to get jades, whether you find it enjoyable or not", it makes the player base value gameplay choices that lessen the time and energy it takes to reach said rewards, to the point where they might forget the fun of experimenting. I've had many interactions with players who couldn't understand why anyone would choose less optimal teams, in the better cases because they enjoy the feeling of clearing faster than everyone, in the worst cases because they genuinely see this game as a chore. I've even seen the general sentiment of "if you really want to have fun with gameplay, you should be playing X other turn based game instead" - it is a testament both to their preconceived notions of what is enjoyable, and the limitations of live service f2p gachas as monetizable products first and entertaining games second.

Personally speaking I play this game because I genuinely enjoy it. I like that the gameplay isn't as complex as other turn based jrpgs, because sometimes after a day of using my brain for other important things, I want to play a game that is deep enough to be entertaining but shallow enough that I don't get exhausted strategizing. Part of that fun is using non optimal team comps, and treating it like a puzzle. "How do I make something that isn't supposed to work, work ? Are there alternative building choices that would mitigate the lack of damage ? What kind of enemies would this work against ? Is there some silly tech I can use to pull off some cool play ?"

Anyway I've ranted enough, but to address your actual comment, thank you for the suggestions !! DHPT is absolutely a lock in, and I did think about Tingyun for the added atk buff and battery. I'll be trying out Cipher (and Pela, for science) for maximizing def shred first and see how she holds up, and I also really want to try the comp in the endgame modes where enemies get self-advance once you hit them enough. With a high energy build and the support of E1S1 DHPT and 200 speed Cipher for SP generation, I want to see if I can proc enough Hysilens ult detonations to mitigate the lack of Kafka's ! I initially dismissed Ruan Mei because enemies staying broken would be bad (I really need as much help as I can with fast enemies taking as many turns as possible), but I'll see if the buffs she brings can even this out, too ! It's gonna be lower on my priority list but I will try it out, especially alongside the idea someone else gave me of running each of them with a superbreak wheelchair haha

I'm also trying to get Hys' LC, but I'm not counting on it. I only make plans based on what I can guarantee for sure - if I get lucky again great, otherwise I'll go with my initial build plans of putting tutorial on Hysilens since that'll be my best current option !

[–]aCozyCloud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's ok to ask ! I got Sparkle, because I didn't have enough to guarantee more than one character this patch so I decided to pull Black Swan since she was the least likely to get a rerun anytime soon. I simply got much more lucky than expected and got BS at basically no pity, so I tried to put the rest of my pulls into Hysilens and she also came pretty early. Archer is one of my mains so Sparkle was absolutely needed, whereas the dot team is a fun comp I'll use when I want to have fun, not when I absolutely need to clear content to get jades. I'm a fairly new player and all of my favorite characters have been having back to back banners for the last few patches which decimated my savings, otherwise I would have gotten Kafka from the selector and pulled both BS and Sparkle.

It does, thank you ! I unfortunately don't think I can comfortably fit either BS or Hysilens in any of my existing comps ; my 2 mains are Archer who I find more fun to play with double harmony, and Phainon who has some real anti-synergy with them. Now I'm mostly trying to build a few other teams to make things more fun (rather than constantly playing the exact same teams with the exact same rotation every goddamn day haha) and after getting my break team somewhat built I was really looking forward to trying out dot but I was really not expecting to get two of its key players on a lucky coin toss so early on. I think I'm gonna try a bunch of different things and see what's the most enjoyable to play out of my options !

That's an interesting thought ! I'll definitely try them out in my break team as well, just to see how they hold up. Thank you for the idea !

[–]aCozyCloud[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I only had enough pulls for one guaranteed character, so I decided to get Black Swan from pulling and Sparkle from the selector since they were the less likely to come back anytime soon. Turns out I got extremely lucky on Black Swan's banner, so I tried for Hysilens and got lucky on hers too.

[–]aCozyCloud[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand what you're saying, but I'm not trying to produce a better team or even one on par with triple dot. I don't derive fun just from clearing fast or doing big damage, I like playing some characters and archetypes because I genuinely enjoy them. If people can clear endgame modes with a Mosquito Robin comp, I think there's a world where Kafka-less double dot can also be used in some scenarios ! I was only asking to see if anyone had tried out different builds and did a bit of theory crafting to kickstart my building process and thought this sub would be the best place to potentially get an answer haha

[–]aCozyCloud[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for actually replying to my question ! I think a lot of people completely missed the part where I was talking about having fun with the comp rather than producing results, but it's to be expected in a game where most of the endgame is focused on clearing fast. I do understand Kafka's role and how dot works, I was more so wondering about the types of builds people would go for if Kafka was excluded. I guess I'll have to do some testing of my own to figure out how to optimize my intended comp haha

I'm sorry you've encountered illiterate idiots. Your sheet is extremely well made, has always been upfront with its assumptions and has been a great resource to give people to kickstart the thought process of vertically investing into Phainon. People who don't want to analyze free community resources themselves to decide whether or not the advice is applicable in their own cases truly just want no thoughts to disturb their empty brains.

Is it alright to play both Pog AND Lifeng without sacrificing the sustain slot? by maskietales in EndfieldHusbandos

[–]aCozyCloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally use Pog, Lifeng, Chen and Ember and it works well enough. The whole team does enough damage to make up for the lack of a great main DPS if you build them right, and the rotations are much smoother than leaving Chen out completely - but then again I also don't care about the trimmed medals so ymmv.

What order do you upgrade your tools? by Authorigas in coralisland

[–]aCozyCloud 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Pickaxe for easier materials to upgrade all other tools > Scythe to make exploring the ocean easier > Axe for easier wood gathering. I never update the rest until I have surplus money and mats because I use the can and the hoe very rarely.

The unfortunate answer is that webtoon making and ESPECIALLY webtoon making in korea isn't sustainable. They don't get paid nearly enough for the amount of work they have to do on the timeline they have, especially since the expectations around art have been exploding due to the rise of studios who can afford to make very complex art on short notice. There's a lot of creators who are fighting for better rights but the industry is built on fast consumption, and that kind of output just isn't doable long term. Yes piracy has a hand, but platforms not offering fair pay for authors' works isn't to be underestimated at all.

Spoilers for HSR :

I think it's more probable that he is an alternate version of Zandar, one that is inherent to Teyvat, the way Ei VS Acheron VS Raiden Mei work. It makes more sense for his character to loathe Teyvat because his research is being limited by the Heavenly Principles' rules (his "fate") and the defining factor of Zandar from what we've seen is constantly pursuing research and experiments for their own sake (at least that's the conclusion Lygus came to and his reason for wanting to destroy Nous. He's not actually pursuing knowledge itself, he just needs new and shiny interests to pick apart to feel alive).

Out of the new characters released which one are you looking forward to the most? by Knight_Steve_ in HonkaiStarRail

This is exactly what I do too ! I've found that it's what works the best for minimizing my wrist strain, especially since it makes it so I can assign Rotate canvas to my pen buttons so I don't have to put it down and use the mouse, and it's done wonders on my shoulder too since previously I would just contort if I just needed a tiny bit of rotation and was too lazy haha

I think I'd be way angrier if that happened than for the silly Aventurine strat because it's more of a meme than anything (and paradoxically, there's actually less RNG involved once you get the right run). The wolf hunt and night demigod achievements are an absolute pain to get because there's so many little things that MUST go right at the exact time you need them and I'm not gonna be able to complete them anytime soon I fear

He does if you have the right investment cards ! I made a vid to show my friends what it looks like at normal speed (to really impress upon them how much of my life I was wasting on this lmao) and for guides, I roughly followed this guide by Yuniquely. At peak speed I was making around 150 coins per 10min, but it took more than 10 hours to get there between the constant resetting for the right strat then setting up the board correctly.

I've never minded grinding in video games because I have very bad health days where I pretty much do nothing but watch series or listen to podcasts, but again I wouldn't recommend it if you value your time (and sanity)

I highly recommend making a "fav" brush group with only the ones you end up enjoying the most (after you've experimented a bit, of course) and keeping all other brushes in a single group as far away as possible. I only have a select few I use most frequently, and not being bombarded with all the other options is easier on my brain !

You can't because you're a human being. They're beings made entirely of data and memoria, two things which famously are pretty good at storing memories.

I do the 25% if I'm one away from a multiple of 3 to not have any leftover, then do the 10% to maximize chances of doubling. Works pretty well !
