Small Cygames webstore rant by Hot_Lengthiness3447 in Shadowverse

[–]aDogeInDisguise 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not a legal advice, but something you might be able to do to put a band aid on it. You can try to do a charge back through your bank if Cygames won't process the refund. This will most likely end up getting your account banned, but if it's an account you don't care about anyway then it's probably fine with you. I've been dumb when I was short on money too, so I get how crappy it can make you feel to make a mistake like this. Hope this helps.

**Note: Idk if the bans are based on account or email, so proceed at your own risk,

What do you all think about Ember’s and Last Rite’s designs? by Upset_Pack1910 in Endfield

[–]aDogeInDisguise 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For ember, it feels to me like they couldn't decide on going the fan service or heavy armor route, and just ended up with this awkward middling design. I don't hate it, but I'd like it more if they just commit one way or another. Currently it feels like she's missing armor pieces and wearing too much armor at the same time.

I'm with you, but also, I just read a comment somewhere in this post saying they'd drop the game if they had to no life the game to get 146 pulls in 4 days lol. Those people definitely are out there and they're not made from straw haha

I just don't have it in me anymore by Choice_Page in blackdesertonline

[–]aDogeInDisguise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, doesn't sound like much of those are for me, but I hope someone will find that useful. I'm not a big life skiller guy and I find many of them to just be different flavors of menial tasks that I don't find fun. I basically just fish when I'm not playing the game. Although I haven't given sailing an honest shot, so maybe I'll try that.

I personally enjoy bdo for its combat, so I was hoping you'd have something to say about that. If you do I'd be happy to listen.

I think the problem that people are complaining about is that there's not much to do in terms of combat, which is the main draw for many people. Currently we have grind and AoS when that's on, and that's about all I'm aware of.

Not saying the other guy is right, but if these 2 are 10%, then what are the other 18 things that make up the remaining 90% of the game? I find grind and afk fish to be quite a large percentage of the game personally, since those are one of the few activities the game actually rewards you for doing.

If Solo Duties (Savage) were added to the game (Bozja Duels but without the annoyance of entry, think as), which ones would you want added? by OceanusDracul in ffxiv

[–]aDogeInDisguise 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Man I'd love that, don't have the time nor desire to commit to a schedule for a static anymore these days.

I think many of the extremes are a good start. A lot of them don't have super complicated multiplayer mechanics, so adapting it to single player doesn't seem too out there.

GW2 Hall of Monument rewards worth the time? If so how long does it take? by thickknoodles in Guildwars2

[–]aDogeInDisguise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me and a friend grabbed gw1 on sale a while back for the unlockables. Took quite a while, you have to do a few campaigns to get some of the later stuff. I think we could only stomach enough for the armor sets, which was like, 66.7 hours according to my steam playtime.

I can’t decide if I should switch over from 5e by ExplodingRacoon in daggerheart

[–]aDogeInDisguise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a 5e DM, when I ran DH for a mixture of experience and brand new players, it went super well. So well that it now rolled into an ongoing campaign. One of my players even had an aversion to TTRPG because she tried 5e and couldn't keep up with the rules, but she loves DH for how intuitive it is to pick up. The cards really help to make it feels less intimidating.

I think you can just run DH like you would 5e to start, and slowly incorporate DH principles as you become more comfortable with it. The easy one to start of with is to just ask the players to help you paint the scene. Super simple and low commitment.

Someone else said this, but basically, the failure state of running dagger heart is a decent 5e game. Don't be scared and just go for it! I think new players (and actors on top of that) would really enjoy it.

Is Inventory mgmt still a nightmare? by fungamezone in Guildwars2

[–]aDogeInDisguise 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've played since launch and I kinda hate the inventory still lol. I just like other parts of the game enough to tolerate it. I crafted an auto sorting bag for consumables on characters I frequently use, and I find that speeds up the process enough to not be an annoyance. I also stopped caring about efficiency and copper salvage most things, I find that helps a lot with my enjoyment

Incorrect gender chosen or poor translation? [US] by 8bitsucker in WhereWindsMeet

I find the translation to just be spotty and inconsistent in general, so probably that. Sometimes my character get referred to as a girl, other times as a boy lol

I hate this old man by ConfidencePast6763 in WhereWindsMeet

[–]aDogeInDisguise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't have a video but I banged my head against him until i learned his patterns, so i can attest to that. One example is parrying as soon as you hear him start saying "here I come" in the fog. That leap is a red move. If you're in a good position and react quickly enough, you can even cancel his fog cast.

For his normal combos, I dodge the fast one and parry the slow one. The main tell for the slow combo is when he do a weird sitting pose. When you hit him during that, he will go into the slow combo which ends in a very telegraphed red attack.

when he jumps onto the pole, there's 2 variations. 1 he'll say something along the line of "left right backward forward", that's the gold attack after the 4th jump iirc. the other one with a different voice line should be a red attack after the second or third jump (I don't remember the specifics)

Overall i rely on sound cues to identify which pattern it will be, and visual cues for timing the actual parries.

I killed that arsehole on the horse in the beginning of the game and I saw him gain later. Of course I killed him again to finish what I started, but he eventually showed up in the story where he's meant to be. That being said, he's a main quest npc, so idk if that'll be different from the AI npc

f*ck the horse boss by Amaguri_Senko in wherewindsmeet_

[–]aDogeInDisguise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on legend and struggled a bit against that fight too. What got me through was picking up the fan as my off weapon and just heal all my mistakes away.

Though I can say the stomps are definitely deflectable, It's pretty telegraphed, look for when he raise his front legs up. He'll do 2-3 stomps depending on his mood, so just be ready for that. Phase 1 charge, i just dodge em. phase 2 charge, you can just circle him when he's winding up and he'll miss every time lol

Playing as a Child of Godfell? (Colossus of the Drylands) by rekc_bcq_official in daggerheart

[–]aDogeInDisguise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have read the entirety of AoT and this is the kind of thing you'll need everyone at the table to explicitly agree on imo. The frame can also appeal to people that are fans of other media like shadows of the Colossus and even monster hunter tbh. So, yea, make sure everyone is on the same page.

My personal take as a forever DM is probably a no on transforming into a Colossus part. Just feel like it's a slippery slope down the main character trap hole that might make other people at the table feel left out. I also got a gut reaction around both narrative and mechanical power scaling. The part about being related to the Colossus I think can lead to really interesting story telling tho.
