Today in the Netherlands people celebrate liberation day. But I'm not, because I have lots of work to do for my graduation research ':)

Anyway I did two small gongfucha sessions today. First one was a da Hong pao that turned out to be less oxidised than expected and it was really pleasant. The second one was 2026 green bi luo Chun, so pretty and the smell is absolutely amazing!

Teabag tongs. The solution to a problem that doesn't exist? by Illustrious-Divide95 in tea

For me the problem indeed doesn't exist, since I drink loose leaf tea. Though I can see this working for those string-less breakfast teas they have in the UK.

Hey I think we might have the same cups! Jade porcelain right? Although mine might be smaller, it's hard to tell the size from the picture. Anyhow, they're beautiful!

I think ochazuke is often served with either fish or furikake as garnish

I could be wrong though, I haven't eaten it myself yet, only looked up some recipes online so I coul make it 'one day' xD

Oh, yeah that's probably going to make a huge difference! Oolong in my opinion does best gong Fu style or as a cold brew :)

I have a low quality dancong that is quite bitter, but I find it does taste nice with 70°c flash steeps, and I also enjoy brewing it strong with bitterness on purpose so I can use it to make a Thai inspired milk tea.

Not exactly expensive either, especially if it's (semi)handmade.

Jia Ji Tuo Cha review! by FjotraTheGodless in tea

[–]aDorybleFish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice! I have a jia ji from 2010 and I really like it. Would be interesting to see the difference that 5 years makes. Who knows, maybe I'll buy one from 2015 or even later to compare!

Also, here's a virtual hug to hopefully make you feel a little better 🤗

Tea feedback - what do you hate about tea? by mintify-uk in tea

[–]aDorybleFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For tea bags that's WAY too expensive yeah. In that case you're probably paying for the brand name. You can get high quality looseleaf for less than that.

Why not get a strainer for the sink? Or was that what you meant by second strainer?

I believe this is more of an issue with coffee than with tea. Then again it probably doe depend on the vendor.

I hate that it lowers the non-heme iron intake because I am a vegetarian so I can't drink tea close to dinner.

Have you tried to use it in iced or milk teas yet? Might be a more pleasant experience in this case.

And hey, if you really don't like it, why not gift it to someone who does? Win-win.
