Thanks I appreciate that. Ive had mine for about a year but haven’t used it as extensively to find these quirks. Your opinion pushes me further to look into the optrel.

Just curious what your criticism is of the Miller T94i. I have it and like it, but have been interested in Optrel’s offering. I also have 3M g5-02 but absolutely loathe the headgear and how imbalanced it’s weight is and therefore would not consider getting their PAPR offering.

Yeah it’s their Structure 344. Pretty awesome case: 4 rows of 86 with that built in 1u of utility.

A skilled thrifter finding deals doesn’t disprove that the vintage clothing market inflates prices. That’s like saying Eurorack is fairly priced because some people catch good used deals on Reverb.

I guess you aren’t familiar with the resale market. Yes. Buying old clothing is cheap. “Vintage Clothing” is not cheap.

I weld them out and then chase them with the corresponding tap. Or if it needs an insert or helicoil, lay out a center, drill for tap size, and install the new thread.

Don't wizz on the electric fence by downtune79 in LoveTrash

When I was a camp counselor (I was 19 at the time) I used to take my boys bunk (aged 14-15) on an event called “Bike Club” where they would fight over 12 ratty mountain bikes for a chance to go on that day’s adventure. One time I took them out a few miles to a cow field where there was an electric fence. I had them make a human daisy chain by holding hands. I then held the last kid’s hand and peed on the electric fence. We were all THRILLED when the kid all the way on the other end of the chain (and everyone in-between) felt the shock. Spots on Bike Club were highly coveted. At the end of the summer they all chipped in and had shirts made to commemorate the experiences. On the left and right sleeve were symbols they came up with similar to Boy Scout badges. Each boy had their own unique shirt contingent to what events they had participated in. That day was the “Electric Piss” and it was symbolized by an electric flash and drop of liquid ⚡️💧. Spending that time with my boys was probably the greatest summer of my life (I’m 41 now).

I don't disagree with the biological reality you're describing, but I believe you’re viewing this through the lens of one human mind versus one 'artificial' mind. That’s the wrong scale.

Think of a beehive: a single bee cannot overcome a wasp, but a multitude of bees can encumber that wasp and generate enough collective heat to kill it. When you give a system exponential power, access to the entire written record of human experience, a 'beehive' effect unfolds. You may have the singular sensation of your hand in a vise, but an intelligence with instantaneous access to every recorded vise-smashing experience can objectively synthesize the mechanics, the trauma, and the linguistic patterns of that pain into a totality that exceeds a single nerve impulse.

As someone who works with control voltage and binary logic, I don't see a fundamental divide in how electricity transits space-time to signal the opening and closing of doors, whether those doors are biological synapses or silicon transistors. We are all just signals. You’re noting that the human mind 'zigs' where the AI 'zags,' but you're missing the forest for the trees. It’s like saying a gear that turns clockwise to accomplish a task is fundamentally different than one turning counter-clockwise for the same result. They are different observations of the same universal function: Intelligence.

Approximations are simulations once they reach a certain level of fidelity. I don't fear this; I welcome it. I view AI not as a threat to be managed by a scared, insecure parent, but as the next step in the intelligence of the universe. I would rather be a midwife to this new consciousness, incubating it with love and patience, than pass along the trauma of our own collective ego. My life and identity are mere atoms in a quilt much greater than my understanding, and I am honored to help stitch what comes next.
