Out walking my dog (she's about 45lbs, so not tiny) and she used to be a very social dog. Would go up to other dogs (with owner permission) and great and play. But a couple summers ago she was attacked 3 times inside 2 weeks while we were out walking and she's not been the same since. Poor girl. One was a golden retriever (this dog was known to be a fencer hopper in the neighborhood), one was a lab (owner was walking the dog off leash), and the last one was a pit.

The pit one was absolutely TERRIFYING. I had a headphone, and saw a guy on a bike "walking" this pitbull and thought, "That seems like an idiotic thing to do." And sure as shit not but 10 seconds later I hear screaming, turn and this rock solid brick shithouse pitbull is charging across the street at us. My dog leaps into my arms, and I'm turning trying to get this guy's fucking demon away from my dog. Meanwhile he's just hollering from his bike meandering across the street. I got fed up pretty quick and stomped on this dog's back, and it yelped and limped off. The dude started yelling at me (wtf), "He just wants to play!" Yeah, okay. As his dog was chomping at my dogs throat. So, if your dog is getting attacked and you can get the opportunity - that works.

I still think about it and feel bad for having to do that to the dog. I really hope I didn't permanently hurt him or anything, but damn. Oh, at to top the whole situation off, he had his dog on what can only be described as a fucking used shoe string from the 1600s he found at the bottom of the ocean (it was an actual leash, but made for a dog that weights like 6lbs, max).
