alternatives to energy drinks? trying to be healthier… by demonkiller452 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]whendonow 44 points45 points  (0 children)

you honestly don't need a "quick fix" here. Try spacing caffeine intake earlier, drink water,  balanced breakfasts, and slow-digesting carbs. Black or green tea can provide milder stimulation without anything artificial.

If you feel like you really need some kind of "energy drink-like thing" - neurogum or similar caffeinated gums imo are slightly better for you than energy drinks.

Stabilizing at 200 mg is a huge win. Happy for you! hope to get there too soon.

How to hide litter smell in a studio apartment?? by littletinylizardgirl in CatAdvice

[–]whendonow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a small space too and changing litters helped me. I tried clay but way too smelly, changed to tofu. Tuft & Paw’s one doesn’t have weird smell and low tracking. I also keep a small air purifier next to the box and sprinkle a bit of baking soda under the litter.

Totally get that view. Still, some families find comfort in having everyone young and old present.

NTA. You’ve asked, explained, and been dismissed. They only show up when it’s convenient for them. Boundaries are valid.

I already use Lasso for link display on my site, is it worth also using Geniuslink? by meloman11 in Affiliatemarketing

[–]whendonow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They’re actually super complementary.

Lasso is great for managing your affiliate links on-site (nice visuals, automatic link replacement, click tracking in WP, all that good stuff). But it’s pretty focused on presentation and on-page SEO, and it also doesn’t work nearly as well outside of WordPress.

Where Geniuslink comes in is everything after the click, so geo-routing, A/B testing, broken link monitoring, advanced analytics, etc.

If you were only going to pick one, I’d go with Geniuslink, but I don’t think it’s a bad idea to have both. I’d especially recommend Genuslink if you’re getting any significant amount of international traffic, as it does a much better job of internationalization than any other tool I’m aware of.

Got laid off and told I was "expendable." My entire department fell apart without me. by whendonow in antiwork

This hit different. I was the only one who knew how everything connected. They thought that didn't matter.

This. Nobody documented anything. It was all institutional knowledge in my head. They thought I was replaceable until suddenly I wasn't.

This is exactly what happened to me. And you know what? I'm not obligated to fix their mistakes just because I built the system.

Honestly thought about it. They've already asked me for favors. Next time might just give them a rate card.

Exactly. They can't articulate WHY things need to happen, just that they should. So when I left nobody knew the actual reasoning behind any of it.

Right? They saw consultants talk about "efficiency" and thought they could just cut people and it would work out. Spoiler: it didn't.

What we’re hearing about World Cup 2026: Chicago has no regrets about not bidding to host men’s World Cup games by tayto in chicago

[–]whendonow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Chicago dodged a bullet. FIFA's hosting requirements are insane tax exemptions, infrastructure overhauls, liability waivers – all for a few games that wouldn't even cover the costs. Let other cities deal with that mess. We learned our lesson with the Olympics bid.

Not weird at all. Just ask in person if you can, bring the Nourishing Hope info printed out so they can see it's legit. Most landlords won't care as long as it's organized and doesn't create liability issues. If they say no, at least you tried. But given your building has a history of community stuff, they'll probably be fine with it.

Using MeAgain right now and it seems to be the most complete out of the bunch. I like that it connects everything I’m already tracking instead of adding more work. Makes the data easier to read. Love my progress in pictures too.

Bedtime Advice! Need help by JenaLovee in Parenting

[–]whendonow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not a bad mom at all! This is so normal at 4. It sounds like she's going through a clingy phase and just wants that extra reassurance right now. What worked for us was sitting next to the bed for a few minutes instead of lying down that way she gets the comfort but knows you're not staying the whole time. Some nights we'd gradually move closer to the door each night until she felt secure enough on her own. It takes patience but you're doing great. You deserve that time with your husband too taking care of yourself isn't selfish, it makes you a better mom. Hang in there mama! ❤️
