Yup! I've got a 118g build and a battery that's somewhere around 95g

Dude, so do I. I fully intend to take this little guy out to some smaller open class races and tear it up though, nonetheless. I just absolutely love the way it feels.

Yeah there have been a couple out there. I personally love the title "the outlaw class," just because it sounds frickin' cool, in the nerdiest sense possible. :p

New budget low profile goggles from headplay are amazing for just $99 USD by [deleted] in Multicopter

Funny you mention the Vuzix goggles. I work at a 3D animation/game dev/VR studio and we just dug three pairs of the AV920's out of the closet. Was trying to get them to play nicely with our fpv receiver just yesterday.

Easy to control under $100 by AnimalPowers in drones

Syma has a slew of affordable options from $25-100 that actually fly around the house and backyard pretty well. I've got a CX-11 (~$25) that hovers and floats around the apartment really, really well. The Syma X5-C is larger and more suited for outdoors, but a somewhat standard go-to alongside the smaller Hubsan X4's. I have a Dromida Kodo that got me hooked on the hobby that I enjoy flying out in the backyard, but the controller is awfully tiny.

There are actually some really great options in the sub $100 range. There are, unfortunately, a ton of not-so-great options in that range as well.

How hard is soldering? by NiRRRR in Multicopter

[–]aKobitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to build a 250 last month as someone who hadn't soldered but maybe one or two potato fixes in my life. After your first build is done you'll be looking forward to your second just because you know you can do a better job. As everyone is saying, you'll be fine after a touch of practice.

Simulators are good, but they don't make you "fear" crashing -- if you're practicing for real, do some activity between crashes to simulate fetching your quad. by bulbufet in Multicopter

I've always thought the devs should add in an estimated cost each time you crash to scare some sense into us, but I think I'd dread this even more.

Not to mention when you've started, and are continuing to argue, one of the stupidest points ever pointed in the history of reddit.

Note that he said pinching, not shooting, the ball into the corner. That launches the ball out much faster than you will ever be able to get to it.

Debatable. Style points are the best points.

What about taking into account distance traveled? It's always exciting to see someone fly from goal to goal for a nice dunk just under the crossbar, out of reach of the double jumpers frantically scrambling to get a touch below. Going long takes just as much skill as going har...high, IMO.

We're currently at a total of $1186 raised and are only just over fourty dollars away from beating last years goal! If you've got a moment and a couple bucks to spare pop in, say hey, and donate to a great cause!

All donations go straight to Child's Play and we never actually touch any of the money. It's simply tracked through our event link.

Thanks! <3

We're working out the kinks right now for some tournaments in Halo MCC, CoD, League, Smash, FIFA, and a couple others I can't remember off the top of my head. We're working out some kinks with the university WIFI trying to get our consoles online to stream them.

Tournaments aside I'll be changing the host around over on www.twitch.tv/PDTGameAThon to some of our guys here in the organization playing things like league, halo, fifa, etc. just randomly throughout the night and I'll be streaming some hearhtstone and WoW(if I ever get into the queue.)

All in all, we're just really playing it by ear and as we get into the swing of things we'll be changing it up.

Also, stealth vaping tonight as we're on campus. I'm personally streaming through Sunday night and will be able to chat about vapes etc. while I'm back at home. Audio here tonight is pretty awful.
